3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draught on nitro. Pours a near-black color with a moderate tan pillowy head on it. Nose is roasty and with some grains coming through - I could really get the oatmeal in this one. Taste had some roasted coffee elements to it and was pretty smooth. Rather enjoyable.

Draft from Coalhouse Pizza. Founders nailed it with this oatmeal stout. While some oatmeal stouts up the ante with the spice, dark fruit and sugar, this oatmeal stout quietly hints oats and brown sugar. The body of this brew is soft and pillowy and very enjoyable. While I find Founderís IPAs to be too abrasive, Iíve grown to enjoy all of their stout/porter offerings.

Very stiff, tight, dense khaki head. Inky. Nice roast and coffee aroma, a little subdued. Nice, mellow, nutty roast, very lightly sweet. Great mouthfeel and overall very smooth. Buffered aftertaste. Excellent. Fermentation Lounge, sunny Friday before Labor Day with Triock.

Tallahassee, Fl - Fermentation Lounge - on tap. Nitro pour - thick head with a lot of action due to the nitro - fun to watch of course. Deep dark black pour. Aroma has some smoky accents, a hint of coffee. Flavor is bold with some roasted smoky notes, a touch of black coffee, some creosote notes. Nice chalky mouthfeel. Part of the Founder tap takeover welcoming this brewer to Florida. Solid stout, as expected.

Nitro pour at Samís, Durham. Necessary dial-down after some heavy hitters were passed around. Weirdly chilly damp August day made this appealing. Nice pour, healthy inky black with loads of silk on top. Nose is quite soft, mellow choc, mild bittering notes. Taste is similar but adds just a touch of brine, interestingly enough. Hit the spot, even if not especially complex.
