3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Nitro pour at Sam’s, Durham. Necessary dial-down after some heavy hitters were passed around. Weirdly chilly damp August day made this appealing. Nice pour, healthy inky black with loads of silk on top. Nose is quite soft, mellow choc, mild bittering notes. Taste is similar but adds just a touch of brine, interestingly enough. Hit the spot, even if not especially complex.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
16oz pint at Galaxy Hut. Pours a thick black with some creamy white head. Nose has a ton of roasted barley, a little dark chocolate, toast, nuts. Flavor is mostly roasty, toast, brown bread, chocolate. Missing the silkiness of the oats. A little too much coffee/roasted character. Dry finish. Good, but like many others out there.

Draft on nitro. Pours a nice viscous brown. Thick tan head. Chocolate and roasted aroma with hints of vanilla. Taste is the same. Creamy mouthfeel, especially with the nitro.

Sample at Kraftwork. Pours black with small to medium beige head. Pretty meaty for an oatmeal stout. Roasted almonds, bacon fat, chocolate, roasty malts, and coffee bean. Thin bodied.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
This is their Nitro. On tap at Local Option. Black pour with creamy white head. Looks thick but isn't. Can smell the nitro. Light chocolate taste. Not getting oatmeal. Hate to say it - but kind of reminds me of a guiness. The trade off for a lower ABV I guess but very drinkable

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at Taco Mac. Almost black with ruby tint at the edges. Big thick creamy tan head that persists. Lots of nice lacing. Aroma is roasted malt and a hint of chocolate. Nice malty flavor, not overly sweet; some bitterness and dryness kicks in as well. Body is creamy, but also slghtly on the light side. This beer goes down smooth. Overall, a very enjoyable stout.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Nitro, on tap at Ashley’s in Ann Arbor, this stout has a very fine, super dense head atop a very dark brown, almost pure black colored body. It looks seriously thick. I’m full just looking at it. It smells super smooth and very roasted. Yes… very smooth.
The very dense head coats the top lip as a seriously sweet, roasted malt flavor coats the tongue. The roast bitterness is harsh, but doesn’t linger long, allowing a sweet oat flavor to entertain the palate. It’s a sweet, and very much like a traditional English stout, with oats softening the dense, dark experience.
It’s very nice, with a very clean, slightly doughy finish.
