COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A Founders take on a classic style, brewed with a generous amount of flaked oats, chocolate malt, roasted barley and a healthy helping of Nugget hops, Founders Oatmeal Stout is nitrogen-infused to give it an extra smooth and creamy mouthfeel. An attractive cascade effect gives this beer its forthright visual appeal—and the body and clean flavor delivers on that initial promise.

Nitro draft @ Three Fires. Creamy chocolate, earthy oat, and light coffee aroma. Black with a large creamy tan nitro head, great lacing. Roasty coffee, oatmeal, and chocolate flavor with a roasty bitter finish. Medium creamy body, soft carbonation.

Nitro Pint. SOLID! Pours black with gorgeous creamy tan head. Aroma of chocolate and taste is dry like an IRISH stout with creamy nitro goodness. ----Hophaze out

Draft on nitro. Pour is black with a tan head, excellent retention/lace. Aroma of dark chocolate, coffee, roast. Taste is chocolate, roast, coffee, vanilla, light chalk. Palate is soft, creamy, light bitter finish.

Pours black with tan head and nice lacing. Aroma of smoke, toasted bread, chocolate, and popcorn. Not what I expected. Taste is toffee, dish water, and barley. A little thin.

Somehow this has eluded me. On tap at tap and mallet - founders vs. southern tier. Score 1 for founders. For a low alcohol beer, this rocks. In a goblet, rich full oily palate. Classic chocolate and coffee characteristics. A bit light maybe but very nice.

On tap at Triangle Wine Co. Pours black with a light tan colored head. Aroma is sweet, bready and slightly malty. Tastes like slight chocolate and oatmeal, kind of watery too though. Body was much thinner than I like. Slightly creamy but not really enough to make up for how thin and watery it tasted. This is the first beer from Founders that I have come away from highly unimpressed.

1/2 pint on the nitro tap. Opaque bastard, black. Good lacing, big collar, persistent little head... nice rounded oatmeal taste, nutty and a bit bitter, too. I like the nitro carbonation with this one (especially since it’s served at a sensible temperature) and the beer had a pleasant full mouthfeel. Hard to dislike, but not a standout either, I’m afraid.

Draft at Proof. Black pour with a creamy tan head. Aroma of bitter chocolate and roasted malts. Light, creamy palate with a bitter chocolate and roasted maltiness. Nice drinker and pretty tasty.

On tap at Proof. Black pour, big brown head. Aroma is roasty, burnt, chocolate. Tastes are dark chocolate, coffee, bittersweet, roasted. Creamy, chalky palate. 7.4

On tap at Leon’s. Dark, nearly black pour, with a huge nitro frothy head. The aroma is immediate dark chocolates and coffee, with some unpleasant burnt bread. The flavor is very sweet, with a little sour and bitter notes in the finish. Medium body, a little cream, and astringent. Overall, this is a slightly disappointing stout.
