Dark ruby, almost opaque color, steady brown head. Light toasted aroma has dark chocolate. Light-bodied. Toasted, coffeish, a bit ashy oatmeal stout with soft but weak palate. Must be stunner with right food.

Tap at Founders. Great appearance. Black color with large tan head. Aroma was sweet complex. Flavor was full bodied and the finish was very strong. Good sweet stout and not even the best of the tested group.

UPDATED: MAY 29, 2013 7/22/10. Served on draft at Founders. Pours a dark brown color with a thin head. Fair head retention and lacing. Nutty aroma with some dry roasted malts. The taste is nutty with roasted malts, chocolate and a bitter hop finish. Medium bodied. 6/3/7/4/13

Rerate at Beer Run 5/27/13. Both aroma and taste are more chocolate and smoke, as well as some faint fruits in the taste. A little thinner. 7/3/8/4/15

On tap at Spuyten Duyvil. Pours with a near black body and a lasting tan head that leaves great lace behind. Aromas are roasty, coffee, espresso. Coffee forward, but a bit of a dry and chalky note. Flinty. Flavors are of coffee, bready, nougat, nutty, and cereal grainy. Smooth, malty and bready. Good stuff.

2013-04-27. Black body, large creamy tan head and lace. Dry modest roast aroma. Flavour is similar, lightly dry toasty roast, interesting middle that I canít quite describe.. Sweeter malt notes, modest bitterness. Smooth average bodied palate has very soft carbonation from the nitro. Enjoyable but just okay. I actually think it might be better not on nitrogen? Who knows. On tap at Reservoir, Waterbury.

On tap at the brewpub on 4/28/06: Pours a rich opaque black with a dense, frothy creamy tan head. Lightly sweet, subtle caramel malty aroma has some mild roasted notes. Body starts lightly sweet, mildly earthy and roasty with a dry bittering mocha roasted finish. A nicely-balanced and enjoyable sweet stout.

On tap at Founders while in town for RBSG. Pours a smooth and sleek black with a medium to thick beige head. Soft fuzzy roast, light toast and oats. Really nice roast aromas. Initial impressions are that itís a bit thin, but itís a 4.5% session stout, so easily forgiven, and definitely made up for by the great balance here. Gently sweet, smooth and tasty, with a lovely amount of roast. Great session stout.
