4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from Breeze Thru. Pours an opaque black with brown chocolate milk head. Aroma is roasted malts, perhaps a bit burnt?? plus caramel, coffee and chocolate with a slightly salty addition (nuts? soy sauce?). Taste is bittersweet chocolate, caramel, some coffee, some tartness. Finishes super smoothly bittersweet and somewhat thick with a touch of alcohol in the end. This offering won our porter taste test back a year or so ago and it is easy to see why.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at Haymarket into a 4oz tasting glass, first beer of the night, a good one for sure...Dark pour for porter, a nice black color with a really nice dark tan head that has good retention and lacing...The aroma is unique, lots of coffee but with a bite of hops, nuts and chocolate come through as well, slightly acetone note. I like this...The taste matches the aroma a coffee porter with some hops, yummy and balanced, and drinkable. This is a winner.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Indeed a very rich beer with smooth chocolate, dried fruits and some coffee. Creamy mouthfeel and long, silky but bitter aftertaste.

4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
12oz bottle purchased on 2/26/11 one day after it arrived at the store. Poured into a Sam Adams Perfect Pint Glass at cellar temperature (about 55 degrees.)
Pour reveals a very dark brown beer with a perfect tan head which dissipates to thin lacing which sticks to the edge of the glass from beginning to end (which didn’t take long.)
Aroma of deep dark toasted malts. I smell chocolate milk. A hint of mocha. This is what I want to smell when I pour a porter.
Rich creamy malt flavor engulfs my whole palate. finish of semi-sweet chocolate and bitterness work together beautifully. A little coffee flavor too. Toasted raw barley flavor with the alcohol at the very end. Great balance of flavors.
Mouthfeel is rich and creamy. Smooth with a medium carbonation that a porter should have.
Drinkable? Hell yea! Smooth as silk. Didn’t take long for me to get through this one. Could hardly wait for each next sip.
This is a perfect porter. I’ll be buying another six pack asap.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Pours a nice black color with some reddish notes in the bottom of the glass, and a frothy tan head. Aroma is very sweet with vanilla and chocolate notes, but also some heavily roasted malts and faint coffee. The flavor isn’t as sweet as the aroma indicates at all. I get alot of roasted and burnt malts along with coffee with peat and charocal, whilst I only get hints of the chocolate (more of a cocoa to be honest) and vanilla. The body is medium with a creamy mouthfeel. Overall a great Porter, even though the aroma kind of fools you :P

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 12/20
Dark solid pour. Very balanced between the chocolate and coffees. If you have never had a Porter or you really like Porters than this is a winner. Just an all around good beer. Will continue to drink it.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Definite chocolate and coffee notes on the nose. Pours black with almost no head. Very thick mouthfeel. The taste has a bunch of different things going on none of which I can identify but they cOmbine to make a big beer that lingers for entire senatorial terms.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Deep brown with light, creamy, tan head. Smooth roasted coffee beans, sweet caramel, toffee, dark fruit. Flavor is roast crescendo with just a touch of sweetness. Finishes residual roast, coffee, unsweetened chocolate. Somewhat acidic. Very good, straight-forward porter with no surprises. Fairly complex profile. Would tend to lean towards Darkhorse’s Special Reserve Black.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
(bottle - 12 oz) Dark black pour with a huge amount of bubbly tan foam. Heavy chocolate and mild roast coffee in the aroma. Chocolate and a very mild roast begins the flavor and then intensifies. Smooth and roasty through the body and into the middle with a nice and bitter aftertaste. The heavy carbonation really enhances the body.
