COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pours silky black with a creamy tan head. The nose is sweet with strong chocolate and caramel malt presence. No absence of hops gives Founders’ robust porter the full flavor you deserve and expect. Cozy like velvet. It’s a lover, not a fighter.

Aroma is strongly chocolate. The taste is good, but overrated in my opinion. It is slightly bitter with chocolate upfront and an almost smokey aftertaste.

12 oz bottle: dark brown with coppery edges. Deep, roasted barley aroma...edging towards to the charred carbon end. Subtle chocolate milk and cherry pits. Full, robust mouthfeel: like drinking chilled, liquid dark chocolate that has hints of carbonation. Burnt grape-nuts after taste with a light lingering bitterness. Very sold, sessionable porter.

First Snowfall of the Season tasting in Odense. Black with a lasting tan head. Aroma of chocolate and toffee with hints of coffee and licorice. The flavour is certainly dark, but not burned at all - beautiful. Fresh ground coffee, dark chocolate and a full body, with just a little roasty note in the finish

Bottle @ Local Tasting, Nov 2010. Pours black with a large brown head and lacings. Nose is roasted bitter coffee. Flavor adds some smooth chocolate. Bitter and roasted. Smooth and full bodied. Carbonation level is a tad too high. Good.

Bottle. Pours dark brown with pillowing tan head. Great carbonation. Nose of milk chocolate, coffee, vanilla bean, and molasses. Thin mouthfeel but that seems par for the style. Taste of bitter chocolate, espresso, smoke, roasted nuts and malt. Slightly bitter on the finish.

UPDATED: JUL 27, 2011 Stuff is great, just great...has a lot of mouthfeel for a regular strength porter and a lot of coffee. Pours dark, slow and smooth, lots of hop and coffee in the hose and through the palate. Full and satisfying finish.

Bottle sampled at Sorbon, Bromma, Sweden. Pours out in dark brown appearance with a rich sticky tan-coloured head. Rich harmonious aroma of roasted malts, luxury chocolate, coffee beans, mild sweet licorice, roasted nuts and spicy hops. Medium-bodied with strong yet elegant notes of mocha, roasted malts, coffee, milky chocolate with undertone of nuts and mild resin. Long balanced finish of bittersweet chocolate, well-roasted coffee, nuts and mild anise. Top notch porter, this.

Thanks to RBlaszak for sending this beer as an extra. This had been on my wants for a long time. The beer pours a very dark brown to black color with a tan head. The aroma is milk chocolate, coffee and some roasted malt. The chocolate is dominant. The flavor is heavy on the roasted malt and bitter dark chocolate. The malt is very heavily roasted and has some burnt qualities to it. Creamy, medium to thick mouthfeel and low to medium carbonation. An excellent porter. One of the best that I have had.
