COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pours silky black with a creamy tan head. The nose is sweet with strong chocolate and caramel malt presence. No absence of hops gives Founders’ robust porter the full flavor you deserve and expect. Cozy like velvet. It’s a lover, not a fighter.

Tumman ruskea, lähes musta porter. Niukka, beige vaahto. Tuoksussa on suklaata, kahvia ja paahtunutta mallasta. Maussa on suklaata, kahvia, paahtuneisuutta ja tummaa, kuivaa hedelmäisyyttä. Keskirunsas ja hieman liukas olut. Portereiden kärkipäässä.

Pours black with a slight nut brown hue in the edges with a nice light brown head. Aroma is full of well-rounded roast, liquorice, almost vanilla, doughy yeast notes, notes of coffee and slight vegetal. Taste has a lot of liquorice and still well-rounded roast. Cocoa, coffee, almonds and bready malts. Still a vegetal notes. Quite a large hop presence as well, bitter in the after taste. Carbonation is high, but it suites the beer well. A really good porter!

Bottle. The Rover, Göteborg. Black colour with a beige head. Malty, roasted, chocolate and licorice aroma. Flavor of roasted malt, licorice, coffee and a light fruitiness. Strong carbonation and a bit too light body that lowers the score for this beer. Maybe this bottle was slightly off?

Pours pitch black and completely opaque without even the slightest hint of lighter color when held to a light and a one finger beige head that quickly fades into a lasting ring. Sporadic spots of lace left behind. Nice roasted malt aroma with hints of bittersweet dark chocolate, oatmeal, toffee and roasted coffee/espresso bean. Smokey but not acrid or burnt smelling with subtle lactic/cream and even some hazelnut. Beautiful roasted coffee in the nose that isn’t overly powerful, burnt or stale. Smells great! Chewy medium body with lots of roasted malt, slight hops, sweet chocolate and a lingering dry finish. Deep roasted coffee/espresso bean flavor along with hints of chocolate, toffee and oatmeal. A bit more acrid/burnt tasting than the aroma suggested with bittersweet dark chocolate, toffee, oatmeal and nut. Subtle bitter dry hops toward the end of the palate with a dry finish. A bit too roasted for my preference with bitterness lingering throughout but still pretty drinkable with a nice lactic creamy flavor mid-palate that gives balance and adds to the mouthfeel. It could use a bit of sweetness to round things out but overall this is a very good representation of the style.

bottle from ølbutikken very dark brown, settles black, smooth light brown head. aroma of roasted malts, flowery and faint sourish hops, aroma is not *that* strong, i have to struggle a bit to descipher the nuances. flavor is chocolate, roasted malts, dry mild hoppy balance. quite fresh. palate is very smooth. aftertaste is sweet yet a little dry. It tastes a bit like those stouts that contain oatmeal, sweet and smooth. Also reminds me of the milky sweetness i’ve seen in some milk stouts. Very easy to drink, goes down like chocolate milk.

UPDATED: JUN 21, 2014 Pours black with a brown head. The Aroma is roasted with roasted malts, coffee, chocolate, some liquorice and light smoke. Taste has the same notes and add some more hoppy notes in the end. Balanced!
