Pours silky black with a creamy tan head. The nose is sweet with strong chocolate and caramel malt presence. No absence of hops gives Founders’ robust porter the full flavor you deserve and expect. Cozy like velvet. It’s a lover, not a fighter.

Just as described on the label: dark, rich, and yes, sexy. This porter has nice roast, chocolate, and coffee.

Dark appearance with a medium head. Flavor changes as the beer warms. It initially has coffee, alcohol, cherry, and dark chocolates which then change to a milder chocolate. Very smooth.

Bottle 355 ml from www.erzbierschof.ch. Deep brown to black, brown foam, unctuous. Scent and taste of roasted malt, chocolate, coffee marc, dark fruits. Top of the range with hints of mocha, toffy, raisin, perhaps Xeres. Quite of chocolate sweetness and its bitterness, creamy and rich.

Bottle poured into a snifter. Pours black with a tan head. Aromas of chocolate and roasty malts. Initial taste has some bitterness. Lots of chocolate flavors come out. The sweetness of the malts is well balanced as a bitter hop flavor is also noticeable throughout. The body is full. The beer is very drinkable with only 6.5% ABV but no sacrifice in flavor.

Tasted on tap at the brewpub. Second best beer of the night, only second to Nemesis. Pours back with nice thick tan head. Nose of smoke and liquorice. Thick body, flavour of roasty malt, liquorice. Finish is bitter and smooth.

12oz twist off bottle dated 1/28/09. I’ve had this bottle since fresh, in the fridge. Pretty sure mreusch sent it my way, thanks Matt. Pours a deep rich dark black with heavier body for a stout and smaller tight even deep tan head. Rich and beautifully balanced nose of roasty, nutted, chocolate malt with noticable coffee hints...perfect. Tight small carb with great body that gives this beer a fully, almost creamy, feel. Lightly bitter and roasty up front, moves into some faint chocolate and coffee bittering. The finish remains bitter and full of roasty coffee and bitter chocolate. Very balanced and full o flavor. I need to have more of this.

Pours a deep, dark brown with no real head to speak of, Aroma is of dark, roasted malts, a hint of coffee and chocolate. The flavor follows this with just a touch of a bitter finish. This is a very good brew, and almost stout-ish.
