COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pours silky black with a creamy tan head. The nose is sweet with strong chocolate and caramel malt presence. No absence of hops gives Founders’ robust porter the full flavor you deserve and expect. Cozy like velvet. It’s a lover, not a fighter.

A deep dark porter with a thin moka head. A pungeant aroma of chocolate, some light boiled veggies. In mouth, a lightish porter with smooth powdered chocolate, medium bodied. On tap at Afterwords Café, Feb. 2010.

Pours a dark opaque coffee color with a thick dark beige head. Aroma is a mix of roasted malts heavy on cocoa/bittersweet chocolate. Taste was the same as the aroma, although there was a little kick to it. The beer was really thick, reminded me of an expedition stout from Bells when pouring. However, the carbonation was pretty weak, so it felt like i was drinking a thin syrup rather than a beer. However, given it’s taste and price, a great drinkable beer.

My reward for 500 miles driving today was scoring a couple sixes of Founders’ products. Oh my, this is a porter? Looks like a baltic, pours out a thick black, ends with a thick tan head. Nose is rich cocoa and roasted and toasted malt. Palate is medium thick but very heavy for a porter. Very sweet but tons of hops in there too balance out the chocolate malt. Almost too sweet. Very oily mouthfeel too, surprisingly good stuff, well not so surprising I love this brewer.

Dark, Rich, and Sexy? Yes yes yes. Pours black with a nice big cappuccino colored head. A full nose of milk chocolate and bitter coffee with some earthy hops in the background. As the head settles a transfixing lace lays. Doesn’t get much better pre sip. This is a wonderful porter. Black malts pack a punch with silky dark chocolate, and some smoky highlights. At 45 IBU’s, hoppy bitterness completes this robust flavor. Intensely dry finish, like I need water. Full bodied, great feel and carbonation. Another excellent beer from Founders, who are no doubt a top 3 favorite brewery of mine. I am left to ponder, who is the woman on the label?

12 oz. bottle to snifter. poured dark brown with thin tan head. Aroma was coffee and malt with faint chocolate. Taste was chocolate and malt with malty after tones. Palate has thin to medium feel which feels slick yet finishes somewhat dry. Overall one of the best porters that I have had!
