COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pours silky black with a creamy tan head. The nose is sweet with strong chocolate and caramel malt presence. No absence of hops gives Foundersí robust porter the full flavor you deserve and expect. Cozy like velvet. Itís a lover, not a fighter.

Bottle - Pours black with tan head that goes away quickly. Smells of light coffee, milk, and cinammon. Tastes of light roast with a sour and milky finish. Aftertaste is coffee grounds in a good way. Feels like it looks -- creamy, medium/full-bodied, and smooth. Nice porter, but expected a little more.

A simply marvelous roasted aroma, displaying all thats wonderful about roasted barley, all that distinct hot chocolate and coffee bean texture,a delight to just smell and enjoy. Bold aggressive chocolate brownie with a slurp of coffee in your mouth flavor, satisfying bitterness in the finish. Seems like it wants to go slightly sweet ,but doesnít get thereOne of the best porters Iíve ever tasted. I donít see much room for improvement. A near masterpiece

Yummmm! Killer beer! Poured with a thick, foamy, frothy, tan head that didnít last too long and some lace. Color is an opaque brown. Aroma is rich, malty, roasty, chocolate, coffee, and vanilla. Flavorís íbout the same but more intense. Excellent body and carbonation. Finish is surprisingly clean & short for whatís here with just a little bitterness, ripe fruit, and leather. Sounds weird, but it works. Bit rich for a session.

Sampled at 2009 Bruegala. Black with an average light-brown head. Good lacing. Average chocolate and roasted coffee nose, little of the burnt malt that was so prevalent in the previous Dark Horse Black. Nice, smooth roasty flavor with mild grain notes (rye and wheat). Medium bodied and really darn sticky. Solid.

Pours dark like an imp stout. Really a superb porter. Great palate that some stouts could learn from. Good interesting variety of flavors. From little fruity to roasty to coffee to chocolate. Not overdone w/ bitter hops. Shit, I wish I could get this regualrily.

Pours a clean black with an average tan head and that leaves some lacing on the glass. Aroma has a light burnt note but a heavy chocolate, coffee and toasted malt nose. Flavor has lots of roasted malt notes, chocolate, coffee and a light acidic, dryness to it. Modest body, with a thin sticky feeling and very low carbonation. All of this combines to make a very tasty porter and one that I will make sure is hanging around my house a bit. Very good and well balanced and really epitomizes the style.

Bottle pours a pure opaque black with a perfect chocolate-milk dense head that dissipates quickly but laces beautifully. Smells of dark chocolate, tiny twist of coffee, and toffee. Great flavor of roasted almonds, toffee chips with some hoppy bite up front, bitter coffee near the end. Chocolaty malts throughout and a bit of an astringent alcohol twinge at the very back. Very good, deserving of a spot next to Olfab, but Iíd need to re-rate side-by-side to see if it can truly hang.

Dark brown, nearly black beer with a dark brown heads. Leaves nice lacing. Coffee aroma and flavor. Biting coffee finish. Some alcohol in the flavor. Medium bodied, very nice beer, not very complex, but very enjoyable.

Bottle split by nbutler11. A great favor. Nose is full toffee with a mild whiff of Danish dirt. Flavor is more of that with creamy chocolate butter and roast. Among the greats of Porter.

The platonic ideal of beer. (Filling in characters so it lets me most this rating. Seriously, perfect. Even if my girlfriend doesnít like it.)
