Looks dark, smells dark, must be dark. This stuff is black in color. Dark malty coffee nose. Mocha as well. Lighter than I anticipated in weight but in a great weight. Licorice, mocha, coffee, roasty grains. Great porter. Never over the top with its dark flavors. Great balance. Best Porter Iíve had in a long time.

Bottle shared at the 6th Cellar Reduction. Very dark brown pour with minimal brown head. Sweet roasty nutty milky chocolate aroma. Flavor is very nutty as well, like hazelnuts, and some anise. Medium body with low carbonation, silky mouthfeel. Lingering coffee bitterness.

Pours a rich brown color with mahogany edges. Some lacing, and a chocolate-milk head. Aromas are complex -- peanut butter, bittersweet chocolate, hay and dry grains. Biting hops on the front of the palate give a burst of bitterness that gives way to the rich mocha center of the beer. Coffee on the finish, but never is the palate overwhelming or one-dimensional. This is a fine, complicated porter thatís a joy to figure out.

Pours pitch black with a fully receding mocha head. Chocolate, toffee, coffee, caramelized fruits, vinous and smoke. Mouthfeel is full bodied with moderate carbonation.

Bottle: Pours black with a thin brown head. Aroma is chocolate coffee beans with hints of caramel. The rich, malty flavor is roasty bringing out the chocolate and coffee in the creamy smooth finish. A well balanced and fantastic porter!

Black color with no head. Strong aroma of coffee and lingering chocolate. Very roasty and malty flavor. Lots of chocolate. A bit of smoke. The alcohol tastes stronger than 6.5%. Excellent brew.

Bottle. Dark brown to near black opaque pour. Short brown head. Nose is strong coffee and roasted malt. Taste is rather sweet with light candy notes, sweet, roasted malt, caramel, coffee and chocolate. Soft bitterness throughout this one and it leans on the sweet side. Body is medium and creamy. Soft carbonation. Ends with cocoa, dark chocolate, light candy, caramel, sweet malt, roasted notes and coffee. Tasty!

Deepest brownest blackish color, decent initial head. Great aroma, loads of coffee and gummy caramel. Touch of tootsie roll. Flavor is chocolate, faint coffee, and some spicy hops on the finish. A bit more tootsie roll, which is kind of like kahlua and cointreau, but without the alcohol kick. Excellent porter.

Deep dark brown-black beer with a thin head. Aroma is great. Lots of big rich coffee and chewy fudgey malts. Sweet and cocoaish with lots of soft light fruitiness. There is a light chewy herbal hoppiness but mostly lots of rich sweet rich chocolate and a light cherry character. Itís another really tasty beer.

(Bottle via trade with pantanap, thanks Kan!) Pours a viscous-looking very dark brown, nearly black, basically opaque, two sturdy fingers of mocha-tinted head. Aroma of milk and dark chocolate with a hint of molasses. Mouthfeel smooth, lightly fizzy, fairly thick. Flavor of semi-sweet dark and milk chocolate over some coffee. Hints of grassiness sneak in toward finish. Overall a very solid porter and one of the best American versions Iíve had.
