4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Courtesy juiceisloose. Pours a dark brown/black, with a medium light tan head. Smells of rich roasty malts, nuts, dark malt, and hints of chocolate and coffee. Nice aroma. The flavor was equally impressive. Rich and roasty on the palate, the roasted malts and chocolat flavors really make a nice combo, blend well nicely together. Very smooth and easy to drink with plenty of flavor. I dug this one.

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle. Pours a deep deep brown with a thin burnt tan with red hue head. Nose is burnt malt, some chocolate. Flavors are roasted malt, bittersweet chocolate. Something extra in there too, like a mint tone. Not sure if it fits but after a little bit has a slight resemblance to a Thin Mint cookie. Has a smokey tone to it as well. Mouth is medium to full bodied, smooth drink. Pretty good beer, I ran out trying to figure out all the flavors I thought I was tasting so a resample down the road is in order.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
[Bottle] Pours a deep brown with a small tan head. Aroma is loaded with bittersweet chocolate, roasted malts, a touch of vanilla, and some leafy hops. Flavor is rich, again with the chocolate, roasted malts, french press, and ends on a chocolaty note. Dry finish, but nice. I could drink many of these - very tasty.

Courtesy beernbourbon. Black. Small brown head. A TON of bittersweet chocolate in this brew, with some light roast and a touch of hop bitterness. Medium to medium/full body, smooth, easy to drink. I canít handle this much chocolate in a session brew, but it drinks very easy. Great porter.

How can you beat the first micro brew you fell in love with? Great taste, with hints of chocolate, and a little caramel, this is the best porter Iíve had!

Nice looking porter. Off-white head. Nice black beer with a strong roast aroma. A huge roast and toasty aroma. This aroma is very pleasing for a porter. Just a lovely aroma. Extremely roasty beer. This beer has a decent palate. Somewhat of a smooth palate, but an amazing roasted taste. Nice malt taste as well. There are no hops to speak of, but I donít care because this beer has one of the best roast/malt flavors I have ever had. Great beer.

UPDATED: MAR 17, 2009 Very rich and complex, beautiful looking, but I think itís too earthy and muddy tasting. Is this one maltier than other porters? Or maybe its one of the hop varieties thatís not doing it for me. Not sure about the specifics, but Iíve had a few other porters that Iíll take hands-down over this one. Kinda bummed because this one had such a great rep. Guess my taste isnít in line with the gen pop.
