COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pours silky black with a creamy tan head. The nose is sweet with strong chocolate and caramel malt presence. No absence of hops gives Founders’ robust porter the full flavor you deserve and expect. Cozy like velvet. It’s a lover, not a fighter.

Bottle at Strømcph in Enghave Parken while listening to Four Tet. Black - brown head. Roasted. Chocolate. Fruity. Light hoppy. Sweetness. Dark bread. Smooth body. A bit boring.

Bottle courtesy GT. Viscous, shiny black beer with a sharply carbonated brown head. Aroma is dark roasted (almost slightly smokey) malt with bitter chocolate and maybe some slight expresso notes. Layered chocolate and malt taste with the smoothest transition down into the creamy finish (touch of caramel?) - nothing out of place. Such a treat to drink a big tasting, stunning beer that’s only 6.5% - huge respect to the skill of the brewery.

UPDATED: SEP 1, 2012 The sample I got fizzed like crazy, so have a towel handy if opening a bottle! It pours a beautiful midnight sable with a very thick, fluffy, persistent tan head. Smoky, oily aroma has tones of molasses, caramel and fine coffee. Rich flavor has firm smoky overtone and coffee, nutty, molasses and caramel components as well as a hint of hop bitterness. Texture is smooth with a subtle fizz and leaves a nice smoky and slightly sweet finish.

Black pour with a nice tan head. Aroma of chocolate and coffee and tastes similar with slight licorice sweetness. Thick yet drinkable, great example of style.

Pours a deep, deep brown, almost black, with a nice tan head. Aroma of chocolate and coffee and tastes more of the same. Great balance and extremely drinkable. This is the best porter I have had to date. 22 oz draft

Botella. Totally black colour. Pleasant aroma of roasted malt and chocolate, sweet. Good filling mouthfeel. Pleasant roasted maltiness and chocolate in the flavour with dark fruits and some liquorice. Tasty brew indeed.

Bottle poured a translucent dark brown nearly black with a small lasting brown head. Aromas of dark chocolate, vanilla and coffee. Palate was medium to full bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of dark chocolate, coffee, vanilla and light carmel with a smooth dry lingering dark chocolate finish.

Deep brown pour with a brownish head. Smells of tar, dark wood and chocolate. Rosted flavours, tar, chocolate, wood and coffee. Very good!

The pour is black with a quickly diminishing tan head. The aroma is dominated by a deep sense of chocolate and dark roast coffee beans. Th flavor is very robust with a significant amount of dark roast coffee and unsweetened cocoa. The finish is wonderful with a strong presence of coffee. Deep dark roast is easily thw most prominate flavors here. The mouthfeel is a little heavy and chewy. I’m a little surprised this is a porter and not a stout, even though there isn’t a definitive answer to the difference between the two.
