Pours silky black with a creamy tan head. The nose is sweet with strong chocolate and caramel malt presence. No absence of hops gives Foundersí robust porter the full flavor you deserve and expect. Cozy like velvet. Itís a lover, not a fighter.

UPDATED: FEB 12, 2010 Pretty dark pour with a tan head. Aroma of coffee and chocolate malt. Flavor is of roasted malts and chocolate cafe coffee. The very balanced flavor leads to a potent palate -- initially creamy, which morphs into a lively, more interactive experience. It is very dark -- there is a minute hint of dark fruit against the dark chocolate coffee --, and its merit in being so is its exact balance. Smoky with some subtle hops. Very rich, very "sexy".

I had this on tap at Bar Louie in Novi, MI. Really great stuff. All the proper porter qualities. Lots of coffee and dark chocolate on the nose, which was complimented by the taste. Really rich, and flavorful stout. Cheers!

12 oz. bottle - thanks riverside!!! long been wanting to try this and alex hooked it up; pours rich, dark brown with thick chocolate head; nutty aromas of chocolate, roasty malts, thick and creamy goodness; tons of body and probably the richest porter iíve ever had; tons of chocolate, but this is not a one dimensional chocolate porter by any means; everything is harmony and just perfection; midwest porters rock the house and this one easily tops them all; traded for a bunch more after trying this; simply put the best porter iíve ever had

UPDATED: OCT 2, 2012 Pours jet black with a small dark brown head. This style is growing on me for sure! Roasted malts and dark chocolate are the smell and taste! The hops hit on the back and leave a dry finish, which meant i wanted more!

[Bottle] Pours a very dark brown color. A small amount of light brown head. Standard dark malts in the aroma. Taste is primarily dark, sweet malts. Notes of vanilla, hazelnut, bitter chocolate in there as well. Dry and burnt tasting coffee grounds in the finish. Creamy, thick, and at times oily mouthfeel. A good and balanced porter.

12oz bottle. Pours a mostly black body with a finger-width, foamy, dark brown head that dissipates slowly and leaves a good amount of lacing. Immediately after taking the cap off I get a rush of hard roasted malts. After pouring this into a glass, the hard roasted malts are still abundant, but well balanced with plenty of milk chocolate, medium sweet caramels, and a light coffee and vanilla. Flavor is nice as well. Smooth chocolate and lots of hard roasted, chalky malts blend with a caramel sweetness up front. The middle has a bit of lactic acidity and is somewhat fudgey with plenty of hops. Finishes sweet and hoppy with plenty of lingering coffees and hard roasted, yet sweet malts. Medium bodied, slick, and dry. Overall, a really nice porter. Lots of hard roasted flavors, but very balanced and sweet at the same time.

Bottle in motel room in middle-of-nowhere Indiana. Pours amazingly thick black with a small tan head- I had to check the bottle again to make sure this was just a porter. Nose is roasty malts, chocolate, molasses, oatmeal, and a little smoke. A little coffee in the taste. Delicious. Thick and ultra smooth- maybe the best "porter" Iíve had.

12 oz bottle poured into a pint glass. Dark brown/nearly black with a thin brown head. Mild coffe aroma, creamy, pleasant mouthfeel, tastes like chocolate coffee, smooth and drinkable. A solid porter.

Sexy indeed. Whipped dark chocolate mousse, creamy balance between light and dark chocolate. Dense and rich and heavy and how I likes it. Darkest brown, small tan head. Really wish I had more of this. The dusty baking chocolate really coats the palate for a long welcomed finish. very thick and creamy, very impressive.
