This porter is excellent, smooth, silky, and beautifully aromatic. Besides pictured rocks this is my favorite thing from/in Michigan.

1. Look – This is a dark black porter with frothy brown head. 2. Sniff – There is a big coffee aroma and chocolate notes as well. 3. Sip – This porter is full of flavor and has a consistent bitterness from start to finish. Its full bodied flavor and long lasting coffee taste definitely help this beer stand out. 4. Another Look – A very long lasting big head. The beer looks very mouthwatering. 5. Evaluate – Overall, this is a tasty porter that is well balanced. I really enjoy this beer. I love the sweet taste and the slightly bitter aftertaste. I would recommend to my family and friends especially around the holidays.

Beautiful pour, solid color with good initial aroma. Very even and almost milky mouthfeel that goes down deliciously smooth. One of my favorite porters and one of the best founders offerings.

Poured from a bottle. Very dark, lots of head. Roasted malts on the nose. Roast and chocolate tasting. Excellent beer, great value.

pours black with a thin beige head and lots of lacing. aroma is bitter chocolate, with some wood. carbonation is light, body is medium full. taste is dark malt, bitter chocolate and some hops but only at the very end. finish is quite bitter for a porter. a very fine beer.

Short 12oz bottle. (Bottled on 04/28/11, 10:19.) Aroma of chocolate oozing from the glass. Black color, nice legs, medium brown colored head. Sweet nose of toasted malts, burnt sugars, and a touch of lactobacilus. Loads of chocolate, some coffee, molasses sugar, and mild wooded hops. Thick flavor of burnt grain, sooo much roasted flavors it gives an espresso character. Light fruit. The combination of burnt coffee and the hops have a bitterness that mellows out any sugar flavor that may still be there. This beer is excellence, a masterpiece of a Porter. So good it could possibly pass as a Milk Stout.

Black colour with tiny tan had. Caramel, toffee malt with chocolate. mild coffee and lots of sweetness in aroma. Flavour is smokey dry hops, sweetish malt, dry malt and lots of dryness in aroma. Some tobacco in dry flavour.

(bottle 7/18/10). Black color. Huge tan head. Moderate chocolate and roasted malt/coffee aroma. Flavor of the same. Long duration. Light bitter finish. Slick texture. Soft to moderate carbonation. Spare lacing.
