| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Jun 7, 2009 Looks dark, smells dark, must be dark. This stuff is black in color. Dark malty coffee nose. Mocha as well. Lighter than I anticipated in weight but in a great weight. Licorice, mocha, coffee, roasty grains. Great porter. Never over the top with its dark flavors. Great balance. Best Porter I’ve had in a long time. Butters (1689), Virginia, USA

Sweet roasty nutty milky chocolate aroma. Flavor is very nutty as well, like hazelnuts, and some anise. Medium body with low carbonation, silky mouthfeel. Lingering coffee bitterness. jefcon (1009), Arlington, Virginia, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 7, 2009 Pours a rich brown color with mahogany edges. Some lacing, and a chocolate-milk head. Aromas are complex -- peanut butter, bittersweet chocolate, hay and dry grains. Biting hops on the front of the palate give a burst of bitterness that gives way to the rich mocha center of the beer. Coffee on the finish, but never is the palate overwhelming or one-dimensional. This is a fine, complicated porter that’s a joy to figure out. TheBeerOrg (1595), Kentucky, USA
