3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20 Holy (650) - GERMANY - FEB 4, 2012
On tap, shared with quiznoaz. Don’t get me wrong on this one. I like porters. Sometimes, but this was more of a smoked stout. Maybe. I really can’t make up my mind. But you don’t really care, do you?

Shared with Holy. Looks like a porter. Has a smoky flavor and bitter finish. More body than typical porters I’ve had. Not bad.

Love this stuff, has a nice thick head, smooth rich flavor. An all around good beer.

12oz bottle, bottled 11/08/11. Black color, thin tan head. Good lace. Pronounced, sharp carbonation. Very nice distinctly dark and supremely roasty finish. Some nice bitterness. Really nice to pair with my leftover Outback ribs. The carbonation is much more appreciated with a meal. Some chocolate aroma, here. Good amount of hoppiness, here. Nice dryness and drinkability. Really, a great porter. Rich is the key word here, although dark and sexy are appropriate as well.

Huge thick porter, dark brown with a beige head. Aroma has roasted fruirs and barley. Taste is thick with coffee and roasted fruits. It has smokiness and a little bitterness. Great finish.

355 ml bottle bought @ Ölbutikken. Pours very dark brown, almost black, with a small creamy mocha head. That leaves some trace on the glass while dissipating. Smell is slightly sweet, malty and full-bodied with roasted malts and lots of quality chocolate in it. Taste is very malty, slightly sweet and slightly bitter with roasted malts and tons of quality chocolate and coffee. Finish is slightly sweet and bitter with roasted malts and coffee. Very impressive and full-bodied for a regular porter. could drink a lot of this...

Bottle @ tasting. Aroma is deep roast, liquorice, chocolate, molasses and more. Flavour is deep roasty malt which hands out a long lingering bitterness followed by sidenotes like chocolate, liquorice, etc.. Very nice.

Pour from a 12 oz bottle. Inky dark brew with tan head. Aroma of roasted coffee, some cocoa. Taste is coffee and sweet malts at the start, with a bit of cocoa and cofee in the finish. A little dryness in the finish. Very nice and very good.
