Bottle at Bar&Cigar.
Dark black with a full brown head, really good looking! Heavenly aroma of sweet malt, chocolate, vanilla, Fruity taste with licorice and more chocolate. Kind of roasty as well, and good bitterness. I find the overall feel a bit ’thin’, but it’s a great beer, as expected from Founders!

Pours a really dark brown almost black color with a creamy mocha head that sticks around for a while. Smells of chocolate, roast, a touch of alcohol. Smells almost like a stout. Taste is creamy roasty chocolate. Has a touch of hops and alcohol burn in the finish but leaves you salivating for more of its roasty goodness. Very Creamy mouthfeel, crisp carbonation, thick body. Great brew! Could be a stout could be a porter, frankly I don’t care I’ve just got to get me some more. One of the best porters ever.

Black. Has a light brown head, mostly lasting. Sweet aroma, notes of coffee, dark chocolate and laqurice. But not much though. Flavor starts heavy sweet, lots of notes, laqurice, faint notes of blood, iron. Dry texture, syrupy too, soft carbonation.

Bottle pours deep brown/black with a beige head. Aroma smells of chocolate, coffee, and burnt marshmallow. Flavor shows the same with an additional hint of vanilla and fudge. Overall body is moderate to full, and finishes with dark chocolate bitterness.

Thanks to HogTownHarry. Appearance: Gorgeous , pitch black, thick tan head. Aroma: Peat, malt, smoke, vanilla, almost a strawberry tone to it too. Flavour: Milky, quite a lot of turf/peat, toffee, sticky, a little boozy, beautiful chocolate milk with coffeeness to it. Delicious.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 rings (54) - Michigan, USA - FEB 14, 2011
Big and dark brown, with a milk chocolate head, this thing checks in a little heavier than most, at 6.5 percent ABV. There’s a full rounded mouthfeel and excellent head retention, indicating a nice protein body, with a generous and completely balanced hop finish.
Although not as well known as many of their offerings, this is an above average porter, an excellent winter warmer, and one well worth seeking out.
