4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Hollywoodt (200) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - DEC 30, 2010
Pours a deep, dark brown with no real head to speak of, Aroma is of dark, roasted malts, a hint of coffee and chocolate. The flavor follows this with just a touch of a bitter finish. This is a very good brew, and almost stout-ish.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Ceebs25 (465) - Naperville, Illinois, USA - DEC 30, 2010
On tap at the Bavarian Lodge in Lisle, IL. This really is the standard in which all non-imperial porters should be compared. A great nose with great balance. Rich and creamy smooth, yet superbly hopped. The pour was pretty as well. A big creamy, dark cream colored head, spotted lacing, a medium-thick appearance, and dark black-brown in color. The notes in aroma and flavor compliment each other almost perfectly. Rich cocoa, effervescent coffee, caramel malts, and backing earthy hop. Start to finish, this one is quite simple, though so well done.
3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Nisse666 (1973) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - DEC 23, 2010
Bottle ay Bishops arms Örebro, 2010-12-23
The bartender was friendly to get me a room temp. sample.
AR: rich roastd coffey aroma, some choclate and a bit nuttyness
AP: pitch black with a reddish tone, 5 cm high wee bubbly = fizzy, dark beige head - slowly diminishing
F: loads of carbonation, nich choclate but wee coffeyness - the fizzyness destroyed this porter!

Bottle from Beer Bistro in Chicago. Pours a rich dark reddish brown; thin head...wonderful smooth taste...almost too smooth to be a porter. Sweet but not so much to distract. Definitely a wonderful example of how good a porter can be...almost enough to make you enjoy winter.
4.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20 Vignale (783) - Malmö, SWEDEN - DEC 15, 2010
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 stobbe74 (2767) - DENMARK - DEC 12, 2010
Bottle. Pours a clear and dark brown beer with a beige/light brown head. The aroma is malt and notes of fruit. The flavor is close to the nose with some additional roasted notes. The palate is sweetness, roasted and with a high level of carbonation. Overall a really good beer.
