Bottle from Beermerchants.com. Black pour with a beige head. Good earthy nose. Plenty of chocolate and caramel to keep you occupied. Chocolate, roasted malts and coffee flavours with a slightly nutty taste. Classic porter flavours. Good stuff.

Bottle. Pours dark black with a thin creamy head. Aroma of licorice; flavor of licorice, chocolate, hints of coffee, and a noticeable hop bitterness. A damn near perfect beer.

12 oz bottle courtesy of manny57. Thanks. Pours a dark brown color with a medium l tan head that soon recedes leaving some minor lacing. The aroma is rich with chocolate, dark roasted malts and earth. The flavor is similar with multi-layered chocolates, black walnuts, and earthy hops. The palate is smooth and creamy with soft carbonation. The finish is long and dry. Overall: A very tasty brew, but its a crime to put it in such a small bottle.

On tap at local option : pour is a very dark brown with nice tan head. Nice retention and lacing here- light roast character in the aroma- mouthfeel is somewhere in the middle as expected. This beer is creamy and robust - fantastic marriage of chocolate malts and hops here. Best porter I’ve sampled thus far
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Huib (55) - Pijnacker, NETHERLANDS - OCT 24, 2010
Soft but rich porter. Aroma of bitter chocolate and roasted malt. Slightly dry finish.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Jaksmart (354) - Aalborg, DENMARK - OCT 22, 2010
Bottle. Black pour with a slight ruby shine, medium brown head. Aroma is very roasty and dry. Strong liquorice, chocolate and heavy-duty coffee are also apparent. There are also notes of rope and earth, as well as yeast. A very powerful aroma. Taste is equally powerful, but less complex. It has lots of roast and a large bitterness, but not a whole lot of other subtleties. It is well-hopped and actually quite fresh and sparkly on the palate. Very nice..
4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 RichardW (861) - Carlisle, Cumbria, ENGLAND - OCT 22, 2010
Bottle, beermerchants.com. Jet black with a deep tan head. Coffee and chocolate very prominent, whisky creeps in and the finish is long, lingering and blackcurrant makes an appearance, with hops becoming noticeable right at the end. A cracker.
