Color is stout-like. Darkest, deepest brown. Thin, bubbly head. Quintessential porter aroma of chocolate and coffee. Roasty but smooth, it has a wonderful, comforting flavor, with bittersweet chocolate first and some roasted malt sweetness. Flavorful without heaviness. Bitterness lingers slightly. Light-bodied yet satisfying.

This is a wonderful beer, one of my favorite porters. Flying Dog Gonzo Imperial used to be my favorite, but this might knock it off the top. Pours a deep dark brown with a tan head that lasts. Nice aromas of chocolate and toffee. This is a very rich ale, but goes nicely with chocolate cake. Enjoy this one!

Perfekt afbalanceret. Verdensklasseøl.

Bottle from Archer Liquor. Pours pitch black with a massive brown head and a huge chocolate aroma. It took a while to pour this one, but once the head subsided a bit, I dove in. Well, it’s really full of chocolate, with a smooth dry bitter chocolate finish and a little carbonation. It’s a pleasure to drink, and serves as a dessert as well as a beer.

Bottle at Strømcph in Enghave Parken while listening to Four Tet. Black - brown head. Roasted. Chocolate. Fruity. Light hoppy. Sweetness. Dark bread. Smooth body. A bit boring.

Bottle courtesy GT. Viscous, shiny black beer with a sharply carbonated brown head. Aroma is dark roasted (almost slightly smokey) malt with bitter chocolate and maybe some slight expresso notes. Layered chocolate and malt taste with the smoothest transition down into the creamy finish (touch of caramel?) - nothing out of place. Such a treat to drink a big tasting, stunning beer that’s only 6.5% - huge respect to the skill of the brewery.

The sample I got fizzed like crazy, so have a towel handy if opening a bottle! It pours a beautiful midnight sable with a very thick, fluffy, persistent tan head. Smoky, oily aroma has tones of molasses, caramel and fine coffee. Rich flavor has firm smoky overtone and coffee, nutty, molasses and caramel components as well as a hint of hop bitterness. Texture is smooth with a subtle fizz and leaves a nice smoky and slightly sweet finish.
