I don’t know how this one fell through the cracks until now. Bottle. Black with a thick creamy tan head. Milk chocolate aroma and taste with some subtle citrus notes and tastes of roasted grain and drip coffee on the back end. Silky slightly bright palate makes this an enjoyable beer to drink.

Bottle. Pours a perfect ritmo de la noche with an aroma of chestnutts roasting on an open fire. Too bad Jack Frost can’t nip at my nose right now... Lots of roasted character in this beer. Flavor follows suit; roasted nuts galore, with a slight coffee addition. Thick on the tongue. Fantastic beer.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Ernest (5116) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - JAN 17, 2012
Bottle.
Head is initially small, frothy, brown, mostly diminishing.
Body is black (non-opaque, flashlight tested).
Aroma is moderately malty (roasted grain, dark chocolate, husks), lightly hoppy (apricot), with notes of vanilla and alcohol.
Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter.
Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter, slightly husky.
Medium to full body, creamy/syrupy texture, lively carbonation, lightly to moderately alcoholic.
It’s just a bit rough, and not terribly deep, but overall a pretty decent porter. Heavier than most.

Could this be the perfect porter? Everything you want out of the style is here. A light roastyness and mild sweetness with notes of chocolate, coffee, caramel, and burnt malts. I love this beer and always like having some around.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 dreadnord (132) - Castel Volturno, ITALY - JAN 14, 2012
Pours black with a huge brown and rocky head. Nose is spruce sap and chocolate. Tastes sweet, chocolate sweet with a good amount of hop bitterness to balance. Crisp, clean and super fizzy. While the carbonation is excessive in the brew I doesn’t necessarily detract from it. Great porter.
