5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20 garrison (652) - Cin. city, Ohio, USA - NOV 24, 2011
Purchased from "Jungle Jim’s" - Alright, my dark twelve ounce bottle poured forth a black brew with a finely bubbled tan head of foam and a rich mocha aroma. Tastewise, this is a rich, complex porter with no errors in taste, body, and appearance!

I was very excited to try the best rated porter, but apparently it has been knocked out of the top spot. This is really more like a chocolate stout and is defined as porter only for its being well hopped. It is black enough to block a flashlight beam, and leaves oily tan lacing on the pint glass. Aroma is straight chocolate, while the flavor contains some nut and oat accents as well. Very smooth throughout, nice full body. Highly recommended.

Bottle. Pours very dark brown, brown head. Aroma of chocolate nibs dipped in coffee. Taste is chocolate squared. Too chocolatey to be a porter, imho.

Chocolately as chocolate gets in a porter that isn’t spiked with actual chocolate. Delicious. Dark, rich, and flavorful. 9-22-2010

UPDATED: JAN 15, 2012 Pours black ish with garnet hue, tan head. smells of chocolate heavy roasted malt for a porter and coffee. Taste is bittersweet cocoa and moderate roared grain. There is some green raisin and non discript dark fruit, lingering coffee like bitterness. It seems moderately oily and hoppy with some dryness. Lower carbonation and good body, would drink this again and again. This is basically a stout.
