3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
.35l @ Vihreš Haltiatar
Pours pitch black with low tan head. Aroma is coffee, roasted malts, dark fruits and syrup. Flavor is lactose, roasted malts, chocolate, coffee. Somehow a bit dissapointing flavor for a 99/99 beer imo.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle - 355ml. Totally opaque black body with a thin, lasting, beige foamy head. Fantastic, complex malty/hoppy aroma with chocolate, vanilla, woody, and roasted coffee hints. Its perfectly balanced malty/hoppy taste carries roasty, coffeeish, and cocoa notes. Ends with a robust bittersweet finish. Awesome!

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
12 oz bottle into tulip. Appearance is black with decent light tan head which disappears fairly quickly leaving good amount of lacing. Aroma is malty with notes of nuts and toast. Taste is very lightly sweet with an extremely lightly bitter, smooth finish. Notes of coffee, roasted malts and some earthiness. Some caramel. Maybe a slight note of wood. One of the most flavorful robust porters I have had. But yet it seems to maintain the character of a porter without crossing the line of being a stout. Very very good beer. Regularly available.

33cl bottle at a restaurant in NY. Pitch black color, short thick brown head. Quiet nose, rich aroma of roasted malts chocolate pudding and toffee yet with a decent hops balance. Loads of hazelnuts and dark malts, cocoa cake. Sweet taste almost like a schwarzbier, charcoal bitterness in the finish. Excellent for dessert or after dinner.

Pours a dark colour with brown head. Smells of coffee, dark chocolate. The same is the Taste: a lot of coffee, dark chocolate notes with little trace of hops. Similar sweet is aftertaste. Surly one of the best porters.

Once again founders does not disappoint. Little stronger than the normal porters I drink and that's a good thing. Loved it.
