2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Pros: Above average malt structure with some complexity. Nice looking beer especially for being a dead beer.
Cons: Nose isnít offensive, but is really dull and void of character. Seems really dead. Lacks purity and richness. Thin mouth feel. Finish is short. Not alive.
I was expecting a better ale.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Appearance: Black color with a small beige head that ends up in a thin layer. Probably the only thing that is not perfect with this beer.
Aroma: Balanced and nice! Coffee, roasted and chocolate.
Palate: Medium + body. Balanced mild sweetness and an ok bitterness. Average to soft carbonation.
Taste: Rich balanced chocolate, some coffee and a bit roasted.
Overall impression: Just perfect! Probably the best porter I have had.
Personal stats: Bottle at FÝrtito Bar & Bowling in Sarpsborg, Norway.

Pours a dark brown with a very tan head that leaves lacing. The nose is mostly chocolate with some burnt caramel notes.Taste is syrupy and chocolatey and then the palate has a long lasting aftertaste of bitter chocolate and slightly cherry flavors. I like but itís not really my type.

UPDATED: JUL 12, 2014 Tremendous porter on draft. Nice deep/dark flavors of chocolate, coffee, and caramel. Really smooth and easy drinking. One of the better porters that Iíve had. Great by the bottle but even better on draft.

Pours jet black like motor oil with tan head. Cocoa and mocha aromas. Poured into turonis pint glass. Chocolate y taste. Not much carbonation. Velvety finish. A gem of a porter. Founders delivers again

Poors jet black oily and slightly thick, thin tan head that seems to disappear and cling to the edges of the glass. Syrupy, chocolate and smooth. Very low carbonation was a suprise with this one. Was like a black chocolate milk shake with hints of beer. Great wee desert beer.

4.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
Bottle from Beautiful Beers (online). Dark, dark brown with a slight purplish hue. Small tan head. Scent of dark chocolate, coffee, Marmite. The taste is ambrosial: a bittersweet chocolate overload with the slightest sour tinge. A surprising bitter hop bitterness in the finish and aftertaste. The mouthfeel is thick and syrupy, with the perfect amount of carbonation on the lips and gums. Warming, and tastes a lot stronger than it is. Incredible.
