2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20Pours an opaque darkest brown almost black. Quickly gone half finger tan head, but think the pour wasn’t exactly spot on. Very little lacing, spotty. Getting dark coffee in the nose and something reminding me of Belgian ales I have not liked in the past. The aroma pretty much ends there...maybe some earthiness but that may be something on my fingers.
I’m getting like a sort of nutty earth and rubbery cheap candybar in the taste, super thin in the mouth, little oily, sticks around too long with that peanut butter aftertaste thing going on. And on third/fourth sip I’m getting like a heavy sharp dose of medicinal alcohol and is that a dark fruit creeping in? Not bad, not great, a porter, but not what I’m looking for in a porter. Founders has yet to impress me, the Dirty Bastard Scotch Ale was much on the same level. Meh.

Beautifully dark with long lasting head (the way i like it) . Silky smooth mouthfeel a nice porter

This black nectar folds into the glass crowned by a light brown head. Nose is malt, molasses and caramel. Thick viscosity and very creamy on the palate. Flavor is bold with forward taste of dark roasted malts, coffee, molasses, and dark chocolate. Finish is well balanced with some dry hops evident. An excellent porter. Try it with brats off the grill.

Big creamy longlasting cocoa colored head. Aroma is slightly rich, salty licorice, coffee, cocoa, salty caramel, roasted grain. Taste is smooth and roasted, coffee, dark chocolate, burnt caramel, hay, some licorice and grass. Longlasting bitterness. Not the best porter I’ve had, but it’s high up there.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown-black with a thin brown head. Aroma is chocolate, malt, nuts, and some fruit. Taste is chocolate, nut and hops. Bitter chocolate and coffee finish. A great porter.

The best widely available porter period. Dosent seem special at first, but the flavor kicks in when goes down the throat. Rich milk chocolate espresso, with a pleasant toffee nutmeg bite. One of the best examples of a porter that there is. Nice and smokey with a creamy mouthfeel. This is worth trying and isn’t incredibly rare like a few of their other beers.

35 cl bottle @ home. Pours black with some sediment and a tan head that leaves a little lacing. Aroma is roasted malt, liquorice, coffee, vanilla, and chocolate. Flavour is roasted malt, liquorice, and bitter coffee.
