Dark, Rich, and Sexy. Chocolate malts and four varieties of hops make this a very full flavored ale.

Pours dark chocolate brown with medium, expresso-foam colored head that recedes gradually to light lacing on glass and surface. Toasty aromas. The effect is that this is a beer of substance, stature. Deep roasted notes, a coffee-like, dry bitterness, a hint of sour, with caramelized grains. It’s chewy, like a black bread, leaving the tonque with lingering entertainment. It can be sipped and savored. Though it’s substantial, it’s not heavy. Founder’s does it again. (I had this years ago, but had not rated it - my bother declared this to be his daily afterwork reward, so I had to resample.)

Tap in Butcher & The Boar, Minneapolis. Deep brown with a thick off white head. Very smooth drinking porter, roasty, dryish, some hints of cocoa and coffee, bitter finish. Hides booze level well. Nice.

Preta com espuma café-com-leite. Espuma de boa formação e persistência. Aroma de café, passas ao fundo. Sabor de café, chocolate amargo e um amargor herbal no final. Pouco dulçor e bom amargor que persiste na boca depois do gole. Bom corpo. Interessante. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

355ml Bottle from Good Spirits Co, Glasgow (£2.60):
Light coffee with some roasted malts, hints of chocolate and a nice earthy aroma that is light but noticeable. The aroma is a rich some with some sweet caramel touches with some light bitterness.
Opaque mahogany colour, almost black. Has a thin, medium brown head with red tinges about 0.5cm tall and holds great with some lacing too.
Sweet malts with some roasted one on top and a good helping of chocolate. The beer is lighter than I was expecting and quite rich too with a tiny but of spice right at the end.
Medium, very smooth, some rich and sweet flavours. The balance of the beer is pretty much perfect and the beer is clean with a dry, sweet finish.

Brilliant beer that is not as dark or heavy as I was expecting but it managed to have a great balance between the sweet malts and the darker, roasted malts that follow. A very easy beer to drink and one that goes far too fast.

This black nectar folds into the glass crowned by a light brown head. Nose is malt, molasses and caramel. Thick viscosity and very creamy on the palate. Flavor is bold with forward taste of dark roasted malts, coffee, molasses, and dark chocolate. Finish is well balanced with some dry hops evident. An excellent porter. Try it with brats off the grill.

18.05.2013, 0,35l bottle @ home: Big creamy longlasting cocoa colored head. Aroma is slightly rich, salty licorice, coffee, cocoa, salty caramel, roasted grain. Taste is smooth and roasted, coffee, dark chocolate, burnt caramel, hay, some licorice and grass. Longlasting bitterness. Not the best porter I’ve had, but it’s high up there.

The best widely available porter period. Dosent seem special at first, but the flavor kicks in when goes down the throat. Rich milk chocolate espresso, with a pleasant toffee nutmeg bite. Wow, if you havent had it, go get some right now. If you dont live in founders distribution area, consider moving...

One of the best examples of a porter that there is. Nice and smokey with a creamy mouthfeel. This is worth trying and isn’t incredibly rare like a few of their other beers.
