4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours dark chocolate brown with medium, expresso-foam colored head that recedes gradually to light lacing on glass and surface. Toasty aromas. The effect is that this is a beer of substance, stature. Deep roasted notes, a coffee-like, dry bitterness, a hint of sour, with caramelized grains. It’s chewy, like a black bread, leaving the tonque with lingering entertainment. It can be sipped and savored. Though it’s substantial, it’s not heavy. Founder’s does it again. (I had this years ago, but had not rated it - my bother declared this to be his daily afterwork reward, so I had to resample.)

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Jet black with minimal head. Aromas of coffee, cola, campfire, vanilla, chocolate and caramel. Deep, rich flavours of chocolate, coffee, a lick of smoke and burnt toffee. A slight fizz on the rich palate which detracts slightly. Magnificent beer.

Best porter/stout I've had yet and this is a category I didn't like at first. This one is super smooth, velvety, and full of chocolate flavor. I still have a hard time detecting the coffee in this category. This I will definitely buy again.

5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
Pours blackwith one finger of tan head. Very nice lacing as it goes down. Aromas of black coffee, rich dark chocolate, roast malt and hints of cream, and burnt toffee. Flavor follows the nose begining with rich and deep notes of roast malt, black coffee and bitter cocoa and toffee. Middle continues this flavor, adding bittersweet chocolate and light burnt caramel. Finish is roasty and bitter with notes of coffee with cream, black coffee and roast malt along with a light sweet caramel. Aftertaste is of burnt toast and roast malt. Mouthfeel thick, creamy and velvety smooth with moderate carbonation. This is a fantastic porter, well deserving of all the accolades

4.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Looks and pours like any other porter. Smooth like Fuller’s London porter, but more flavorful. No harsh leafy tastes like cheaper porters. By far the best porter I’ve ever had, save for Funky Budda’s Maple Coffee Bacon porter.

Nearly black in color; modest tan head.
Lots of roasted aromas, coffee and a touch of chocolate. A general bitterness from the hops.
Mild to moderate sweetness; medium to slightly heavy bitterness.
Full bodied; slightly thick, oily texture; average carbonation; finish is is long, sweet, bitter chocolate and roasted coffee.
Overall a very good porter; rich and flavorful with reasonable complexity.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a dark, dark brown with a 1/2 inch dark, tan head. Has the smell of dark chocoloate/good coffee. Has a medium body with a wonderful burst of flavors - chocolate, coffee, light hints of hops, and a sweet finish with just a little bit of pleasant bitterness. Tremendous.
