2.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20
19th December 2009
Opaque black beer, thick foamy light tan head. Toasted malt nose. Semi dry palate that is quite silky. Lightly toasted malt, a little creamy as well. An odd touch of glue is a distraction before unsweeet dark chocolate and a splash of espresso present. Could be decent but the glue is a real turn off.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. It’s a reddish, dark, dark brown beer, topped by a small, beige head. Coffee, sweetness and hints of hops on the nose. Rather one tracked, but nice, and that goes for the flavor too. Mostly coffee and roasted malts, some chocolate blends in, and then there’s some hoppy bitterness. Roasted finish. A bit thin on the palate, medium bodied. A nice one indeed, althoug lacking a bit on complexity I think. 110930

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Near black body. Thin head. Preliminary (cold) aroma is hoppy and roasty. More coffee notes emerge as it warms. The body is creamy, with a little bit of fudgeyness. Long, dry finish. A very hoppy brew. Overall, an intense black beer that eschews the traditional concept of a porter by a wide margin. Taken for what it is, I think I’d prefer a little sweetness to round out the harsher edges of the hops.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle, bought @ Ølbutikken, Cph.
Pour is utterly, completely black with a big, initially fizzy, settling, frothy, beige head. Mildly sweet aroma, some roasted malts, light chocolate, a hint of fruity hops. Low carbonation, lovely creamy and dry mouthfeel - impressive for the ABV. Flavour is elegant, lots of roasted malts, good malty dry- and bitterness balanced well by good sweet chocolate and well-used fruity hops. Light vinious even for its low ABV - perhaps that’s because there is so much malty taste to it? Very good.
