Pours silky black with a creamy tan head. The nose is sweet with strong chocolate and caramel malt presence. No absence of hops gives Foundersí robust porter the full flavor you deserve and expect. Cozy like velvet. Itís a lover, not a fighter.

Pours a rich, dark colour with a needle like amber head. Smells of espresso coffee, dark chocolate with just the tiniest trace of hops. Tastes of coffee, dark chocolate with a long lasting oily, sweet aftertaste. Really sessionable as far as porters go. Deserves the hype.

On tap. Pitch black, frothy brownish head, warm coffee aroma with hints of hops. Bitter from roasted malts is quiet strong, develops into coffee taste. Good body, thick but not too much. Hand pumped so canít comment on carbonation

The rep behind this is huge. Should my knees be shaking going in? Ha-ha! I never was much bowled over by celebrity, so I guess Iíll just open this sucker up and see how we go. The open mouth of the bottle releases a sweet, milk chocolate aroma, and Iím brought back in time to the dipping of sugared toast into hot chocolate; a favorite treat when my brother and I would discover that school was closed for a SNOWDAY! The brew is cocoa with a soft, cappuccino head, wet and heavy on the sides of the glass. Toast, chocolate and dark, rich, almost burnt caramel waft through the air as I bring the glass to my lips for a long draw. The huge, full body is rich and full of flavor, the texture chewy; I suddenly feel an almost desperate longing for a thick, sexy cigar, and to be enveloped in tight black leather. So contrary to the figure on the bottle. So like me to be contrary. The finish is short, dry and ashy, and the experience is going to be a favorite for me. The aftertaste is fantastic; dark, roasty and tasting of deep chocolate. There is nothing I could find wrong with an experience like that. I hate to give any of this up to do a mix with the Rubaeus, but indeed I will.

An absolute cracker. Doesnít promise much at pouring or in scent, but proves delicious and entirely palatable. A great porter.

355 ml bottle from Les Vignerons. Dark brown, looks almost black in the glass, with a nice, creamy, moderately persistent beige head. Intense and mesmerizing nose, very sweet overall but the roasted/toasted presence is there. Milk/white chocolate, tons of licorice and vanilla notes, a hint of toffee and green coffee beans as well. Pretty much perfect, really. Not only for the intensity but also because of the quality. Quite a different story in the mouth. Initially an earthy, peppery and slightly herbal hoppy punch togheter with a solid, bitter and roasted presence. Much more coffee than chocolate compared to the aroma, even though reminds me more of a watered down version instead of a proper espresso. Tiny bit of astringency and sweetness, with a lingering vanilla and burnt caramel aftertaste. Excellent drinkability for the ABV. Soft to average carbonation, medium body, oily texture. Fantastic aroma, more than solid taste, overall extremely pleasent.
