4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 vyvvy (2920) - Florissant, USA - MAY 25, 2009
Well, this was wonderful. Pours very dark and stout like with a dense creamy soapy head that lasts. The aroma has roasted malt, rich chocolate, nougat and earthy spicy hops - excellent. Medium body that is luscious creamy and smooth with flowing soft carbonation. The flavor starts with roasted malt and some sweetness, chocolate, lush cream and some very dark berries. The finish has some complementary earthy / spicy hops giving it amazing balance. This is a fantastic porter.

12oz bottle - pours black with little brown head. Nose is roasted malts and coffee. Flavor adds grassy hops. A little sweet, but mainly bitter. quite dry to the lips and full bodied. Sweet aftertaste of a fruity nature. A tad too roasty for me quite like dark/bitter chocolate and hence I would pair this with raspberry-coulis chocolate cake.

Wow. This is one great porter. Not too sweet at all. Perfectly chilled (I’ll take credit for that part). Very subtle chocolate taste. I’m quite pleased with this porter, and is one of the better ones that I have tried.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 yngwie (9204) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - MAY 29, 2012
Bottle. It’s a reddish, dark, dark brown beer, topped by a small, beige head. Coffee, sweetness and hints of hops on the nose. Rather one tracked, but nice, and that goes for the flavor too. Mostly coffee and roasted malts, some chocolate blends in, and then there’s some hoppy bitterness. Roasted finish. A bit thin on the palate, medium bodied. A nice one indeed, althoug lacking a bit on complexity I think. 110930

Hell this is the bomb of all porters. It is like sex in a bottle. Absolutely righteous chocolate, espresso with a roasty finish. Yum.

Thick black body with many flavours elegantly balanced together to form a porter well worthy of the hype. Excellent stuff.

On tap at hamiltons! Deep brown color with a thick tan head. Full body with chocolate and expresso up front with slight bitter smoky finish. Similar to deschutes black butte but bolder overall, great porter!

The pour is black with a thin brown head. The aroma is expresso. The taste is chocolate and expresso with a bitter finish. An excellent porter and well worth the 90 minute drive it took to find it in the Mid-Atlantic.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 berkshirejohn (3020) - Bracknell, Berkshire, ENGLAND - MAY 21, 2012
12oz bottle from Crossroads Beer & Wine, Burlington, MA. A really dark, black, pour with a creamy looking tan head; aroma of strong black coffee and chocolate malts; surprisingly light in the mouth, without being thin, some coffee and red fruit mingle with the richly roasted malts and demerara sugar; before a dry, warming, finish with light peppery hops and some smooth, milky, chocolate. A rather good porter, but I prefer a slightly heavier body.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 kathouse (305) - Nevada, USA - MAY 16, 2012
Poured from the bottle with a frothy tan head which quickly died down to a thin film. Black with red trimmings, hops are apparent in the first moments but give way to expresso, chocolate, and some smoked wood aromas. Body is full. Black malt bitterness along with some chocolate and other burnt offerings make up the majority of the flavor. slight hop is in the finish. Another good beer from Founders.
