COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pours silky black with a creamy tan head. The nose is sweet with strong chocolate and caramel malt presence. No absence of hops gives Founders’ robust porter the full flavor you deserve and expect. Cozy like velvet. It’s a lover, not a fighter.

UPDATED: MAR 13, 2006 Draft growler from the pub. Now I know I’m a rating whore. I passed up a chance to load up on more Breakfast Stout to get a growler of something I haven’t had yet. That and those bottle deposits. Well:
Deep brown to black color under a thick tan head. Big chocolate roasty smell. By the time I get to tasting this, it’s gone a little thin, more like a nitro stout. Light Brit mouthfeel can’t compensate for deep roasty black malts. Goes for quite a bit of bitterness, which makes me wonder why they didn’t just make this a stout? Still very very enjoyable.

Bottle from a Archive Beer Boutique August 2013. Charcoal black colour with a swirling tan head. Thin body but packed full of flavour that fills the mouth.

Vähän tunkkainen kiireessä juotu Porter. Ihan hyvä, väärä ympäristö. Eliittivalmistelut.

Aroma of chocolate, molasses, and coffee. Nice ebony color. Nice bitter chocolate sweetness up front. Dry finish with a smokey bitterness that balances out sweetness nicely.

UPDATED: JUL 24, 2014 An impressive porter, very dark and opaque with faint red highlights, thick enough to resist a LED light, yet pours with not much of a tan head. Smells distinctive with an espresso coffee aroma and some dark fruit. Taste is enjoyable, heavily roasted malt with dark chocolate and coffee bitter accents. Very flavorful and also very smooth, not thin at all but still manages to be slightly watery. Some hoppiness but the bitterness primarily comes from the burnt chocolate malt. I found this at $8-9 a six-pack, a great classic porter for that price. Recommended overall.

16 oz draft. Opaque brown. Minimal head. Faint chocolately nose. Taste is chocolate/toffee. Lingering aftertaste. Decent beer.

Awesome porter. Smooth, chocolatety, tan head, nice balanced hippy flavor. I thoroughly enjoy these in the fall and winter. Nothing better.

pours quite dark verging on black without a very large head, even with a vigorous pour. Smells richly of roasted and toasted malts with a bit of coffee and espresso. Tastes smokey with roasted malts, chocolate and coffee. Some hops are present to give some bittering. Thick full bodied beer. Smooth but with a little bit of grittiness.Tastes a bit watery too. A good beer.

Cunningham (4329) - Halden, NORWAY - JUL 14, 2014
Appearance: Black color with a small beige head that ends up in a thin layer. Probably the only thing that is not perfect with this beer.
Aroma: Balanced and nice! Coffee, roasted and chocolate.
Palate: Medium + body. Balanced mild sweetness and an ok bitterness. Average to soft carbonation.
Taste: Rich balanced chocolate, some coffee and a bit roasted.
Overall impression: Just perfect! Probably the best porter I have had.
Personal stats: Bottle at Førtito Bar & Bowling in Sarpsborg, Norway.

Porter #100!

Pours a dark brown with a very tan head that leaves lacing. The nose is mostly chocolate with some burnt caramel notes.Taste is syrupy and chocolatey and then the palate has a long lasting aftertaste of bitter chocolate and slightly cherry flavors. I like but it’s not really my type.
