COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pours silky black with a creamy tan head. The nose is sweet with strong chocolate and caramel malt presence. No absence of hops gives Foundersí robust porter the full flavor you deserve and expect. Cozy like velvet. Itís a lover, not a fighter.

UPDATED: MAR 13, 2006 Draft growler from the pub. Now I know Iím a rating whore. I passed up a chance to load up on more Breakfast Stout to get a growler of something I havenít had yet. That and those bottle deposits. Well:
Deep brown to black color under a thick tan head. Big chocolate roasty smell. By the time I get to tasting this, itís gone a little thin, more like a nitro stout. Light Brit mouthfeel canít compensate for deep roasty black malts. Goes for quite a bit of bitterness, which makes me wonder why they didnít just make this a stout? Still very very enjoyable.

Pours a dark brown with a very tan head that leaves lacing. The nose is mostly chocolate with some burnt caramel notes.Taste is syrupy and chocolatey and then the palate has a long lasting aftertaste of bitter chocolate and slightly cherry flavors. I like but itís not really my type.

UPDATED: JUL 12, 2014 Tremendous porter on draft. Nice deep/dark flavors of chocolate, coffee, and caramel. Really smooth and easy drinking. One of the better porters that Iíve had. Great by the bottle but even better on draft.

Pours jet black like motor oil with tan head. Cocoa and mocha aromas. Poured into turonis pint glass. Chocolate y taste. Not much carbonation. Velvety finish. A gem of a porter. Founders delivers again

Poors jet black oily and slightly thick, thin tan head that seems to disappear and cling to the edges of the glass. Syrupy, chocolate and smooth. Very low carbonation was a suprise with this one. Was like a black chocolate milk shake with hints of beer. Great wee desert beer.

Bottle from Beautiful Beers (online). Dark, dark brown with a slight purplish hue. Small tan head. Scent of dark chocolate, coffee, Marmite. The taste is ambrosial: a bittersweet chocolate overload with the slightest sour tinge. A surprising bitter hop bitterness in the finish and aftertaste. The mouthfeel is thick and syrupy, with the perfect amount of carbonation on the lips and gums. Warming, and tastes a lot stronger than it is. Incredible.

Bottle Smooth velvety black pour with a small finger of chocolate coloured head, looks like a thick imperial stout. Aroma is, lots of roast, chocolate, coffee, some nuttiness, and a bit of anise. Taste is, smooth roast up front, followed by some chocolate, coffee, velvety mouth feel, with a mild bitter finish, and a coffee roast aftertaste
