Dark, Rich, and Sexy. Chocolate malts and four varieties of hops make this a very full flavored ale.

Enjoyed from a 12oz bottle in a pub glass. The beer pours a deep brown color with a sizable tan to light brown head. The nose gives strong hints of roasted malt, with a nod especially to what seems to be a relatively low lovibond chocolate malt. The palate is distinctly roasted and malty up front, showing dark chocolate notes. The mid-palate shows a nice west coast hop presence. It stops short of having the assertive character of an American stout, but is far more than what would be seen in a standard English robust porter. One thing that could further improve what is a fairly complex palate would be the increased use of mid-range crystal malts. Overall, not life-changing, but nicely done.

Pours rich chocolate brown with a thick tan head and lots of sticky lace. Big chocolate and malt aroma. Flavor of dark brown sugar, big roast character, almost savory cocoa that becomes lightly sweet. Medium body makes it an easy drinker.

12 oz bottle. Pours deep, deep brown, with caramel coloured head. Big roasty malt aroma and taste. Great example of the style!

Pours essentially black with a thin off-white head. The head sustains nicely and leaves some elegant lacing on the glass. The nose is filled with lots of roasty malts and dark chocolate. The flavor is just as good and reveals notes of caramel, chocolate and roasted malt. Carbonation is right on and the body has some nice weight to it. One of the best off the shelf porters you can pick up. Highly recommended.

Serving type: bottle. Pours black and thick (opaque). One finger brown head with moderate lacing. Smells heavily of chocolate and dark roast coffee. Taste is sticky sweet with a nice compliment of a little hop bitterness. This is borderline imperial porter/stout. One of the best porters I have had. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. The pour was a pitch black with a slight ruby hue and an average sized (1-2 finger) medium brown creamy head that totally lasted throughout and produced excellent streaks of lacing. The aroma was of a roasted chocolate malts and a mildly sweet leathery yeast with notes of dark chocolate, roasted coffee, a bit of caramel and a touch of dark fruit. The taste was lightly sweet with a hint of chocolate and some dark fruit in the beginning and finished a nice bitter sweet with a healthy dose of coffee and a mild caramel sweetness at the end. The flavor lasted an average amount of time proceeding the swallow, with a mild bitter sweet coffee taste that was left to linger. Mouthfeel was just about full in body and absolutely creamy in texture with a soft carbonation. Overall an outstanding Porter. Not to surprising though, seems everything this brewer puts out is just incredible.

From bottle. Black with tan head. Aroma of chocolate, coffee and vanilla. Heavy cocolate and coffee taste. Dry finish, well balanced. Delish.
