sneagrams3 (1342), St. Louis, Missouri, USA May 10, 2008 Tasted 4/27/08. 4oz taster from the brewpub. Filtered with a ruby hue. Trace white head. Raspberry cherry fruity aromas. Medium to full bodied. Sweet malts and all fruit! Tart cloying finish. Mild malts. Slight hops. A little too rich for my blood.
decaturstevo (1134), decatur, Tennessee, USA Jul 26, 2008 Very tart raspberry aroma. Clean red/brown pour. slightly sweet/tart raspberry dominated flavor with just a bit of a flat papery finish. Slightly thin with light foamy palate. Pretty good beer that without the bit of a funky after taste would really be good. lumberjack (135), Michigan, USA Jul 25, 2008 Red pour with disappearing pink head. Aroma is sweet berries and nothing more. Taste is led by raspberries that are more reminiscent of jam or preserves than of fresh tart berries. There is just enough of a malt and hop backbone to let you know this isn’t a wine cooler. Not bad, but really not that refreshing of a summer brew either. saltebru (13), Ionia, Michigan, USA Jul 25, 2008 Pours a nice ruby red. You can really sense the raspberries. Fermentation from the malts as well as the raspberries. A really good beer. Heathen (464), Riverside, New Jersey, USA Jul 16, 2008 THOUGHTS: Not very beer like, but not like a fruity wine cooler either. It wasn’t overly sweet and was quite tart by the finish. It’s a man’s fruit drink. It was sort of like raspberry iced tea and raspberry lemonade mixed together. But not exactly. Hid alcohol well.
TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a clear, medium to dark reddish orange with a average, off-white head that mostly diminished. The aroma was mostly raspberries, but not sweet. The initial flavor was light to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, and sour; while the finish was lightly sweet, moderately acidic and more sour with an average duration. There was mostly raspberry. The medium body was dry with tingly carbonation and a dry and light to moderate astringent finish. Sparky27 (430), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Jul 16, 2008 Bottle courtesy of yobdoog. Pours a hazy ruby color with one finger pinkish white head and decent lacing. Nose is raspberries, malt and a little sour funk. Taste is raspberry preserves up front with a malt background. Finish is semi-dry and a bit sour like unripe raspberries. Medium mouth feel. A nice, refreshing summer brew. Thanks Trevor!
