COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pours a spectacular crimson red with a creamy tan head. Brewed with four varieties of Belgian caramel malts imparting a sweet richness. Reds Rye is impressively balanced with its hop bitterness and floral bouquet achieved from the dry hop. In the finish, the generous amount of malted rye used accentuates a spicy crisp finish.

Red’s Rye pours a dark amber color. A small head is formed. Minimal lacing. The smell on this beer is great. It’s a great mixture of Rye, citrus, floral hops, and spice. Like I said above this is basically an IPA with a nice healthy dose of Rye. When I took my first sip of this beer I wasn’t that impressed. I got some citrus but that was basically it. I then let the beer sit for a little bit. As it warmed up a bit the rye and spice came through huge. The rye was rough and raw on the palette. Mixed in with the nice citrus backbone it makes for a hell of a combo. If it wasn’t for Harvest Ale this might be my favorite tasting Founder’s brew. The mouthfeel is medium bodied, smooth, and nicely carbonated.

Pours a reddish amber with small off-white head. Aroma is mostly hop-centric: pine, citrus, and fresh grass. Taste begins sweet, then slightly bitter with hoppiness, with the both sweet and bitter persisting through the finish. Balance of hops and malt is perfect. I always get this beer when I’m feeling indecisive at the liquor store; it’s sure to be pleasant and drinkable, and guests seem to enjoy it regardless of beer preferences. :)

Spicy crisp aroma. Rich red amber with an off-white head. Malted bitterness with a pepper like spice. Lively carbonation. Has sourness but leads to a clean finish. Quite unique on the palate. I’m not crazy about it but yet I like it still.

Pours a red, coppery colour with an off-white head. The aroma is bright from hops, and slightly rye bread-like. The taste is bready and sweet, with a mild hop finish. It is medium-bodied with an appropriate amount of carbonation.

Pours a dark copper with a thinnish head that dissipates quickly to thin rings. smells fairly hoppy and inviting. On the palate comes a burst of juicy hop flavor, followed by toasty malt and all 70 ibus of hop bitterness. Finishes bitter with more toasty grain flavor. So long rastafarye, hello new favorite rye pa.

Pours slightly hazy light reddish-orange with thin creamy off-white head. NIce complex aroma of caramel, pine, citrus and spicy rye. Taste begins with caramel malts and citrus with a good amount of rye spice. Finishes with a nice lingering rye bitterness. Very nice brew with the bitterness of the rye and hops balancing out the caramel sweetness of the malts perfectly. A winner.

Pine, flower, apricot, and citrus in the aroma. Flavor starts sweet with some fruit and spice, then finishes with a wallop of hop bitterness. Different and really good.

On tap at Stag’s Head in Manhattan. Pours a crystal clear amber with pure white head with slight lacing. Crisp farm raised grain with sweet malt from the fresh rye. Lots of flora and citrus explode on the aroma with orange as well. Taste is grapefruit and bitter finish on last half of palate.
