Pours a spectacular crimson red with a creamy tan head. Brewed with four varieties of Belgian caramel malts imparting a sweet richness. Reds Rye is impressively balanced with its hop bitterness and floral bouquet achieved from the dry hop. In the finish, the generous amount of malted rye used accentuates a spicy crisp finish.

Bottled - winter seasonal. On tap - year-round.

Note: Formerly Redís Rye P.A.

on tap at brewery, fresh and hoppy nose, orange/gold clear body with a little head, wonderful flavor, very citrusy and very hoppy, super fresh and floral to the last sip, wonderful balance of hops, esters and malts , crispy finish, really very good, I was really stoked on this, good things happening at the founders house

Reddish brown pour with a nice medium sized head that lasts. Aroma is rye bread, hoppy, caramel, with a nice dryness to it. Taste is medium bodied rye again, rather bitter, a light chocolate note, lightly sweet, and a bit of nutmeg. Palate is mild and bitter/sweet. Good beer from Founders in GR (Grand Rapids). Would be nice with a hearty meal.

UPDATED: JUN 9, 2008 Bottle from a mix a six. Reddish hue with an off white head that lingers nicely. Good lacing. Aroma of citrusy hops and a hint of rye. Initial taste is dominated by hops, but as it goes to back of the mouth, I pick up the rye with sweet hints of berry, malt, and spice. Finish is semi- dry, hoppy, and I picked up a a subtle flavor of candy red hots. Hoppiness lingers at the back of the mouth. This stuff is great and always consistent, and is probably one of my favorite session beers. I always pick up a six when I am in a town that carries this line.

(bonus brew from styles)poured into a sifter and was shown a murky orange body with a nice white head that left some lacing.my nose could pick up grapefruit like hops, red kool-aid,and white grape juice.flavor was a mix of dry hops, red kool-aid(or red punch)and a bit of earth.mouthfeel was on the medium side and the finish was dry.

Boy I sure like these beers with malted rye....maybe itís a novelty, but I like it anyway. Big reddish-amber pour, fluffy off-white head. Big citrus hop aroma...kinda suprised me. Thereís some malt there too, but itís definitely here in a supporting role. Spicy hoppiness in the flavor with a better malt presence. Very tasty. Medium bodied and flavorful. I canít think of a Founders concoction thatís disappointed me yet.

cloudy, deep amber/brownish color, beige head. aroma is fairly strong on the lemony hops and is quite tart/tangy. flavor is initially quite lemony and floral with a bit of a numbing alcohol feel on the tongue. there is a slight herbal chocolatiness in the finish and aftertaste. the hop profile reminds me a little of Bellís Two-Hearted.

Color a red hued amber, with a thin head of off-white. Aroma a cloying aroma of oranges and resin. Flavor is sweet and deliciously hoppy, but lacks much in the way rye flavor, instead a coarse grainy tooth combined with the sticky sweet orange and lime floral. Finish is a touch grassy, mixed with lucious sweetness.

Pour is hazed reddish amber with a thin almost non existant head...smell is very hoppy...grapefruit and pine...wow...this taste great!!! Lightly malty up front, but turning to a nice chewy bitterness...not just something watery on the sides of my tongue, but all over it and what phenomenal body!!!

Bottle. Deep red on the pour with fruit, maybe some grapefruit. Nice flavors of light caramel sweetness and full fruit with a somewhat bitter finish. Thanks Steward of Gondor for the brew.

Hazy amber golden colored, foamy tan head. Very fruity and hoppy aroma with a sweet candied note. Notes of orange, peach and lemon. Nice! Fruity and hoppy flavor as well with a good balanced bitterness. A bit thin in the body but tasty!
