Pours a spectacular crimson red with a creamy tan head. Brewed with four varieties of Belgian caramel malts imparting a sweet richness. Reds Rye is impressively balanced with its hop bitterness and floral bouquet achieved from the dry hop. In the finish, the generous amount of malted rye used accentuates a spicy crisp finish.

Bottled - winter seasonal. On tap - year-round.

Note: Formerly Redís Rye P.A.

Its red, as the name suggests. Thin tan head. Spicy aroma, with a hint of sweetness. Big dose of citrus pine, as well. Big hop flavors up front that meld into orange, pine, caramel and Iím gonna say rye. again, as the name suggests. Thanks to Springslicker for sharing!

(02.16.06) 12 oz bottle from Archer Liquors, Chicago, IL. Hazy red hued rye ale having a small white head. Nice fruity/hoppy aroma. Medium-to-full bodied ale that starts with light malt sweetness and spicy/fruity/toffee/hop flavors. Finishes dry with lingering hop (grapefruit) flavor and bitterness. Well balanced. Delicious giant beer. Another excellent offering from Founderís.

I would call this a Rye IPA, and I love it. Deep red pour with an offwhite head. Big hop aroma, very floral on the nose, a little spicey, perhaps the rye showing itís presence already. Flavour starts with a citrus hop bite, to carmely malts, to a balance of largely, and wonderfully floral hops over a deeper malt character with the aformentioned carmel sweetness cutting the bitterness. Finishes with spicey hops with undertones of rye, alcohol, and little leftover malts. This is a serious brew, espacially for $9 a 6 pack year round at the local market. I canít wait to see how it ages, as it seems strong enough to take it.

Ah... it appears my nemesis RAYBOY01 has been the last to sample this beer. This gentleman has repeatedly thrown down the gauntlet to race me to 1000 ratings... then recants as if he simply dropped the glove. I think he is attempting to thwart my perseverance through sheer confusion, but he does not realize that  I am a juggernaut, out of control!!!!

Ahem. Yes, well... this beer pours a dark copper with a sediment haze topped with a creamy, cream-colored head. Big, harsh & almighty citrus in the aroma with juicy grapefruit. The alcohol that arrives later is strong and reminds me of my childhood and my mother trying to get my fever down through alcohol sponge baths. Bitter hops are predominant in the flavor with abundant citrus, while malts do not add sweetness as much as add depth. It may be the power of suggestion, but I could swear I also detect caraway. Hopheads rejoice, youíre really going to like this one.

Appetizing aromas of pine and grapefruit lure me in. Rich roasted maltiness as expected, but the twist of adding a malted rye adds another unique dimension...a chewy cereal quality. Very potent Pacific Northwest hopping...grapefruit/pine/and orange juice. Good session material.

Beautiful brownish copper color with substantial frothy tanish head. Aromas are sweet and floral with a bit of sharp hops. Flavor is well balanced, mixing back and forth between sweet caramel flavors and crisp floral hops. Excellent brew again from Founders.

Cloudy amber brown with little head yet lots of lacing. Big hop aroma with fruit notes of peaches and some floral notes also. Aroma reminds me of Brutal Bitter in some ways. Body is medium and slightly oily. Lots of hop bitterness in the finish and really smothers the malt. Kind of like Lost Coast Indica. Malted rye is there but bitterness covers it up some. Thanks to demitriustown for the sample.

UPDATED: JUL 10, 2006 Poured into a trappist glass. Varieted head -- large and small bubbles. Very slight malty nose. Murky red with floating yeast. Malty on first sip, hoppy on second with a rye, bitter finish. Fizzy and rather well balanced.

Dark brownish amber, pretty cloudy, with some thick creamy tan head. Nose is lots of hops, maybe on the Centennial end of the spectrum, very floral. Also some sweet malts and some light dough notes. Begins with a spicy and floral and bitter hoppiness. Some nice esters as well. Caramel malts are there, but more in the background, especially on the bitter rye influenced finish. Medium bodied, but perhaps a bit too much carbonation. Great stuff.
