COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pours a spectacular crimson red with a creamy tan head. Brewed with four varieties of Belgian caramel malts imparting a sweet richness. Reds Rye is impressively balanced with its hop bitterness and floral bouquet achieved from the dry hop. In the finish, the generous amount of malted rye used accentuates a spicy crisp finish.

Bottled - winter seasonal. On tap - year-round.

Note: Formerly Redís Rye P.A.

UPDATED: APR 25, 2005 Oh yeah. Sort of an amped up amber with a rye kick. Or maybe not. Nice body, good sweet malt backbone with balanced hops. Iím not familiar enough with rye to detect what it does exactly, but I like it. Thanks Crawfords!

Poured a cloudy copper red with an average size khaki head. Sharp pine and leather aromas. Flavor is lightly acidic at first. It has a slowly growing bitter feeling that rolls down your throat while a pine flavor rises up into your palate. Medium dry palate. Overall this is like a mild IPA.

This was excellent. Am becoming very impressed with Founders. Had this on tap at The Blind Pig in Champaign, IL. Great beer place. Dark copper body under a frothy tan head. Nice lacing and animated bubbles. Aroma of fresh citrusy hops mingled with matly sweetness and a wisp of rye. Gentle carbonation and a strong body. The flavor was predominently hops and in the most pleasant of ways. Mixed in was the matly sweetness and the hints of rye, but the hops are what grab you and entice you into more and more. A refreshing, rewarding, thoroughly enjoyable beer that would go well with most foods, especially spicy food. Yes, this is definitely a keeper.

Translucent red-amber w/ light brown foam. Big, grapefruit & pine nose w/ hints of caramel, biscuits & rye bread. Moderately sticky feel. Sweet caramel malt foundation supports a very hoppy, citrusy, spicy flavour. Long, very bitter finish.

Wow, having not read the commercial description here or any previous ratings, I was not prepared for this hop assault. Actually, though, this is very solid all the way around. Great sweet, rich maltiness and a dryish graininess in the finish.

Aroma of strong citrus and pine, orange/amber, pours a small custard head. Flavour is layered with good hops and then fine malt. Nicely balanced, medium bodied. A terrific beer, that in a blind tasting Iíd think was an IPA? Thank You wohlfs.

Light red and hazy with lots of small floaters and little head. VERY strong floral, resinous and slightly grassy hop aroma. Big bodied and malty with caramel and strong hop flavor and a dryish finish. Somewhat winey in flavor. Interesting and somewhat challenging.

Of course it pours amber, but thats just the beginning. Wonderful full on floral hoppy nose and a good amount of head retention. Taste is hoppy as well with a nice balance. On the sweet side but not enough for ir to matter much.
