Pours a spectacular crimson red with a creamy tan head. Brewed with four varieties of Belgian caramel malts imparting a sweet richness. Reds Rye is impressively balanced with its hop bitterness and floral bouquet achieved from the dry hop. In the finish, the generous amount of malted rye used accentuates a spicy crisp finish.

Bottled - winter seasonal. On tap - year-round.

Note: Formerly Redís Rye P.A.

Aroma is tricky and not as boistrous as Iíd like initially. Piney hoppiness comes through with some caramel and sweet notes. The aroma improes with time. Mostly transparent amber-red color with a light tan head. Lots of cherry-sweet roasted caramel maltiness in the start, turning increasingly bitter with the rye really hitting you. This is s little too bitter for me and itís a little over-carbonated as well.

(draft) The first sip of this was just disgusting, but I vowed to drink a couple of inches to give it a fair test. At about halfway through the pint I decide I sorta liked it. By the end of the pint I wanted another one. An odd-tasting beer that just grew on me. Not sure I can describe the taste.

Did not get the big head that other got. Clear red appeance just wants you to take a sip. A lot going on during the first few swigs. The carmel, hops, rye, and even some sort of citrus fruit flavor comes alive. In the end a good mix.

Fairly, deep, red. Very foamy, and rocky, large, head. Lots of floral and citric hop, aromas. Aroma also holds, the strong malt backbone. Wet,thick, and resiny but still very smooth. Malty(toffee, bread) and floral hoppy notes dominate the mouth. It all runs together better than you would think,by the aroma. Finish is dry,and crisp. Lingering rye, and malt in the finish blend extremely, well with the hops. Great, lingering finish. This is a respectable example of a style, not always taken seriously.

This was one of those beers that you didnít know what to expect from the description. I found it to be very well balanced and not as malt heavy as I thought it would be. I also wasnít bowled over by it as a Strong Ale. I think it was because of the aforementioned balance. The rye was definately understated in the finish. Much more likely to revisit than any other of this style.

UPDATED: NOV 15, 2007 Bottle... This beer rocks!... Hazy, mahogany ale with a small, off-white head. Floral, very citrusy aroma with notes of orange peel and very light toffee. Citrusy, bitter flavor that screams for more malt to balance things out, but would be less refreshing with it. Medium-bodied and lightly creamy with moderate carbonation. Crisp, bitter and tangy finish. This brewery impresses me yet again with another world class beer. Excellent IPA!

Pours a slightly hazy golden red color. Little to no head. Sweet malt aroma mixes with a crisp bitter note. Floral hoppy nose becomes sweet malt flavors, finishing with a sharp rye crispness accentuated by some citrusy hop bitterness. Very refreshing for such a high alcohol content.

Bottled Picked this up on a whim in a Woodmanís in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Nice looking pour, amber with a bit of a fluffy head that thins down to a film rather rapidly. Fruity, floral notes in the nose. Slightly sweet and grainy upon first taste, with a strong, spicy, bitter finish. A really excellent beer.

UPDATED: APR 25, 2005 Oh yeah. Sort of an amped up amber with a rye kick. Or maybe not. Nice body, good sweet malt backbone with balanced hops. Iím not familiar enough with rye to detect what it does exactly, but I like it. Thanks Crawfords!
