The aroma is fairly hoppy with the traditional grapefruit aromas highlighting the expression. The flavor was less hoppy than I expected. The malts were very complex as there was a very nice spicinesses from the rye combined with a biscuity carmel flavor as well. Very well balanced on the palate and refreshing. Nice beer with a cool grain bill. AdamSkillin (376), High Bridge, New Jersey, USA

Copious bittering hops almost overshadows the spiciness imparted from the rye. I love my triple imperial 120 IBU IPAs as much as the next guy, but I think I’d like this beer more if the play between the sweetness of the caramel malt and the spice of the rye were allowed to shine through a bit more. | 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Jun 8, 2008 This bad boy pours an overly darkened crimson red, with really beautiful head. Smell like grapefruit. The flavor reminds me of grapefruit a lot. The hops are very citrus flavored and there is a slightly acidic feel to it. Really unique. badgerben (3592), Blaine, Minnesota, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 5, 2008 Thanks to LawStudent09 for sharing. Copper color with no head. Big pine hop aroma. Lots of spicy rye flavor and some more pine. A little caramel finish. screigh (260), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 2, 2008 Pours a nice looking amber color. Small white head but it does have some lasting power with some lacing. A strange grain smell...I assume this is rye. Mouthfeel is somewhat thin. Nice malt balance with the hops. Some bitter finishing. This is a real nice beer. Naka (525), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jun 1, 2008 Pours a deep amber red with a small off-white foamy head. The nose is fresh cut grapefruit with a little bit of pine. The flavor is strong hops with some tea and bitterness. A lot more floral in the taste than in the nose. There is a nice peachy sweetness underneath. The body is pretty rich. A really hoppy red, but delicious. LilBeerDoctor (1492), East Setauket, New York, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 24, 2008 Updated: Feb 17, 2009Bottle. Pours a cloudy brown/amber with hardly any head. Aroma of piney and floral hops. Flavor is fairly hoppy and quite bitter. Some sweet malt (sort of a raisin taste) comes out as the beer warms. Didn’t really get any rye. I expected this to be a little maltier actually. Mouthfeel is fairly thick and heavy. This beer reminds me of SN Celebration Ale. Interesting beer. I’d probably have this again, but I’m not in any rush.
Update 2/17/09: HUGE head in this one. Flavor of sweet malt and lots of rye grains. Flavor is sweet and quite grainy initially with some rye in the finish. Some light fruits (strawberry maybe). Palate is a little weak though. Still not digging this one. I’m keeping my original score. soyorganic (217), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | May 11, 2008 Draught: Dark red color. This is a nicely balanced/smooth beer with a lovely hop taste and a hop flavor that lingers and you don’t want to go away. I loved the subtle complexities (work jerk) of this beer and I wish to drink it again.
