Pours a hazy amber with nice off-white head with good retention. Semi-lace on glass. Aroma of nice hoppy grapefruit. Flavor is very nice, Malty with strong hop citris of grapefruit, with nice strong bitter, similar to a nice IPA. Palate is full bodied, medium carbonation. Tasty brew!

May 10, 2008 12 oz. bottle from the Detroit haul, shared with Naka. Pours red with off-white head. Big hop nose, floral and and citrus with slight grassy notes. Taste of tea. Good hoppy flavor and bittering, floral and grassy. Dry and tasty. Really good rye red ale. Good rye malt flavor. Tasty Tasty. Could definitely be a repeat.

May 7, 2008 Pours a ruby red color with a small off white head. Aroma of fig, vinegar, rye and hops. Flavor is a nice caramel maltiness with a nice hoppy/rye bitter finish.

May 6, 2008 Thanks emacgee. This one looks great in the glass, pours a hazy amber color with a very thick/creamy tan head. Rye is very present in aroma. Taste is very unique. Has a very spicy taste to it topped with rye. Finish is very long. I didn’t enjoy this one as much as I expected.

May 1, 2008 copper in color with tan head nose of rye hops and floral notes tasteof rye bread also spicy,hoppy and of fruits notes finishes slightly bitter and dry would go great with a rueben sandwich can’t wait tp try the black rye.

Apr 30, 2008 Poured a beautiful deep red amber color into a stange glass served at a MacNivens restaurant in Indianapolis. Creamy head that left nice, thick lacing all the way down the glass.
A bit hard to determine aromas in the bar atmosphere, but it was slightly fruity with hints of pumpernickel bread.
Taste was exceptional. Awesome combination of malts and hops, perfectly balanced. Slight rye presence in the background.
Smooth, creamy mouthfeel.
Overall, one of the most drinkable beers I’ve had. This was an exceptional beer and lived up to the hype. An excellent choice.

Apr 23, 2008 This poured dark amber/copper with a thin white head that disippated quickly. The nose shows off caramel malt along with soft rye and a citric/floral edge from the hops. Rather light in the mouth with a tartness running through the midpalate and finish which shows the hops with a dry/bitter edge.

Apr 22, 2008 Pours a translucent, nearly opaque, cloudy, ruby red with a thin slightly off white head. Aroma is very spicy, malty, grainy and slightly citrus with a sort of sweet and sour thing going on. Flavor is very grainy and chewy, with some mild sweetness, plenty of spice, some citrus. Heavy mouthfeel but smooth and crisp on the palate.
