Commercial Description:
Pours a spectacular crimson red with a creamy tan head. Brewed with four varieties of Belgian caramel malts imparting a sweet richness. Reds Rye is impressively balanced with its hop bitterness and floral bouquet achieved from the dry hop. In the finish, the generous amount of malted rye used accentuates a spicy crisp finish.

Bottle. Aroma of perfumy and tropical fruit hops, brown sugar, fresh rye, caramel malt. Flavor of sweet, rye malt with spicy accents and a good heap of bitterness. Lots of sweetness from the rye, but the bitterness hangs on right through to the finish. Really nice all around.

Thanks to The_Epeeist. Hazy brown/amber topped by a huge, dense, frothy tan head. Huge hop nose of pine, venom, resin, spice with an underlying sweetness. Flavor adds a generous amount of sweet caramel and a nice rye presence in the finish. Full body, smooth. Rich, yet easy, drinking.

Bottle purchased from BeerGeek.biz. Shipping was damn expensive so I’m glad it was good! Really nice reddish color with a tan head and great retention/lacing. Aroma is sweet malt, caramel, rye, and some hops. Flavor is like a RyePA, sweet bready, ryey (not a word, I know) malt, honey, spices, and citrusy hops. Really tasty. Medium body with a creamy palate.

Red pour with a sticky white head that clings to the glass. Spicey, hoppy aroma, with some citrus notes. Dry, bitter flavor, with lots of rye, spice, maybe some dirt? Also a lot of grapefruit, sugar, some pine. Mouthfeel is nice.

Another outstanding Founders brew. Rich malt hop aroma, sweet malt with a touch of cherry and a big bitter hop followup. Palate is a little harsh, but its full body and great hops and rye flavor makes this a winnerIn fact,it has now become one of my favorites and my rating for ithas been significantly highened

Pours firey orange with generous beige-white foam clinging. Aroma of salty, spicy rye and citrusy hops; pungent, earthy breadiness stricken with burnt garlic and fumes of florals and wild rice. A weird melting pot of rustic outdoorsy elements. Flavor is a pleasant, easy balance of citric bitterness and soft malty sweetness; oranges, wheatgrass, pear, pineapple, and pine. Caramel malts burst through with a delicate sweetness in the mid palate. Steadfast balance and soft touch. Palate is medium to full, rounded, chewy, smooth, leaning towards cloying richness but not overstepping. Finishes dusty with bitter pine and grapefruit and tropical fruits trumping a distant red spiciness. Disjointed hoppiness might have made this more complicated than it needed to be, but even in that context it’s a finely tuned and well presented effort.

This one is a red type color with a Fluffy white head. Aroma is mostly grapefruit with a touch of rye. The rye contributes a ton of bitterness but there’s plenty of tasty pineapple and grapefruit hops in there to balance it out. I really enjoy this one and love having it around.
