3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Hop suckerpunch with a floral nose. Heavy flavor follows with bitterness due to dry hop. A subtle maltiness is heavier in the nose than on taste, but this is still a nice beer to enjoy, preferably in a pint glass.

Tap at draught 55, NYC. Poured a ruby amber colour with a small off white head. Nose has loads of rye spice, floral hops and citrus tones. Taste is more of a spicy citrus flavour with caramel malt adding to a huge backbone. Grassy tones come late. Booze hidden. Great stuff

Bottle - Pours dark tea color with an average head. Has a nice hop aroma and a somewhat citrus hop taste but more a malty body. Fairly dry finish.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Deep crimson almost purple pour with eighth inch of creamy beige head. Nose has strong citrus hops, very juicy, rye, and sticky pollen. Lively carbonation, thick creamy mouthfeel, bitter crisp finish. Flavors of pine and some citrus hops, expertly balanced with lots of carmel malts, some rye is obvious but not overbearing, kind of creamy. Really good rye IPA.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Enjoyed this as it really had good balance. Piney and citrus aroma with a little rye. Copper color with a nice head. Good mouthfeel with bitterness that complimented the carbonation. Also quite smooth. There was a strong mellow bitterness that blended well with the spiciness of the rye. Good stuff.

Clear reddish amber with a frothy off-white head. Rye, caramel malt, and bitter hop flavor. Aroma of rye bread, florals, and pine. Body medium. Dry.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours fiery amber gold like the sauciest chanteuse in Ireland. Head is a thick and creamy yellow-white that fades to a nice coat and leaves bubbly lace. Cloudy and catches copper in the light. Aroma is pine, sweet citrus, toasty. A bit spicy. Tastes like an IPA with a grainy kick in the roof of the mouth. Grapefruits, bitter hopped and light caramel malt. Some spicy rye booziness though the beer is just 6.6. Maybe that rye is whiskey. An enjoyable and well-balanced beer that will appeal to IPA fans.

Great red color, hoppy and not too bitter. Robust, complex, sort of earthy, pleasant flavor. Great for fall.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
12 ounce bottle into signature pint glass, bottled on 8/19/2013. Pours lightly cloudy reddish orange color with a 1-2 finger dense light khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of huge grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, orange zest, orange rind, caramel, floral, pine, spicy rye, and floral earthiness. Fantastic aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus hops with moderate caramel/rye malts; and great strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, orange zest, orange rind, caramel, floral, pine, spicy rye, and floral earthiness. Fair amount of pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of citrus, pineapple, citrus zest, caramel, floral, pine, rye, and floral earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Awesome balance and complexity of citrus hop and moderate rye/caramel malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a lightly creamy, smooth, and moderately sticky mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a fantastic rye pale ale! All around awesome complexity and balance of citrus/pineapple hops and moderate caramel/rye malts; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A highly enjoyable offering.

Really good beer from Founders. Sucks they had to make it a seasonal, put it in 4 packs, and raise the price. Still is good stuff though. Just wont be getting it too often.
