Commercial Description:
Pours a spectacular crimson red with a creamy tan head. Brewed with four varieties of Belgian caramel malts imparting a sweet richness. Reds Rye is impressively balanced with its hop bitterness and floral bouquet achieved from the dry hop. In the finish, the generous amount of malted rye used accentuates a spicy crisp finish.

This is a very unique tasting beer. Like an india red of some sort. I always like a beer that isn’t like many others. This one combines a great balance of malt and hops.

12oz bottle from bruisin ales. *re-rate with a fresh bottle from grape & gourmet* pours a hazy, deep copper/red with a thin, white head and great lacing. aroma is fantastic with big, resiny pine hops, citrus and tropical fruits, and a hint of caramel malt sweetness. flavor is outstanding as well with flavors of dark, toasty rye, big caramel malt, big grapefruit and orange citrus, floral hops, pineapple, and a bit of spice. palate was light/medium bodied, with solid carbonation and slightly spicy, bitter finish. overall, and excellent brew that i’m really glad i gave another chance when fresh.

12 oz. bottle from Busch’s grocery store in Novi, MI. This stuff is great. It’s basically a great IPA with an amazing hop aroma and flavor, but with some sweet caramel malts on the finish. Quite possibly my new favorite home state beer. Cheers!

Bottle. Pours ruby red with a small head. Aroma is very floral, with sharp citrus and grapefruit. Flavor starts with spicy rye and caramel amber, with perfect amount of hopping. Just a well constructed offering from Founders. Finish is long, hoppy, and spicy. This has got to be my favorite rye pa to date.

bottle. Poured into a Delirium snifter... really nice appearance... dark red with a decent size off white head. Wonderful floral hop aroma with a touch of rye. I didn’t really know what to expect from this one, but it really is a pleasure to drink. The body is pretty full with a huge hop presence up front as well as through the finish. The dry hopping really shines through on the tip of the tongue at the finish. There is some definite rye over the top of the palate as well with some lighter fruits and citrus notes towards the bottom. Excellent finish - nice and bitter with some spice and rye up front that give it a bit of a kick. True quality here.

Bottle - Pour deep copper with a frothy, bubbly head. This looks like a beer I want to drink. The nose is nice too--lots of citrusy hops, balanced by some grain and malt in the background. The taste just doesn’t do it for me. There’s not much flavor until the hops bite the back of your tongue. The finish is really dry, as the rye and malt make me feel like all the water has been sucked out of my mouth. The aftertaste is pretty pleasant, with some sweet malt and hops lingering for awhile. It’s refreshing, but just so dry. Love the mouthfeel though--it’s rich, creamy, and smooth. I thought it would be much lighter. Decent beer, but the dry rye taste just doesn’t do it for me.
