jamvin23 (162), chicago, Illinois, USA Feb 15, 2009 Bottle. Red with white head. Aroma: spicy, hop and piney Flavor: piney and citrus hops with a spicy crisp finish. foundmd (163), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Feb 15, 2009 Updated: Jun 18, 200912oz bottle. Beautiful amber-red pour with a thick creamy head. Aroma of hops with lots of grapefruit, apricot, some malt sweetness and pine. The grapefruit comes through in the flavor as well, along with bitter hops, sweet malts, and a pinch of rye spiciness. Palate is medium bodied and thin. Easy to drink and refreshing. Although the alcohol might be a little high, this would make a nice session beer. Another excellent beer from Founders. jimmack34 (560), Lancaster, Ohio, USA Feb 14, 2009 12 oz bottle. Pours deep amber red with a thick long lasting head. Smells piney and grassy. Tastes piney and like a bread crust. Decent amount of bread grain malts and piney hops. The head is still creamy after a few drinks. Plenty of lacing. Flavor lasts a long time. The spiciness of the rye is alot more prominant the warmer it gets. Small amount of molasses or honey in the aftertaste, as well as a slight nuttiness. Very good beer. malrubius (969), Valley Stream, New York, USA Feb 13, 2009 12 ounce bottle in pint glass. Red amber with lasting fluffy head and lace. Spicy floral hop and cola(?) aroma. Extremely well balanced toasted caramel sweetness with grain, minimal fruit, and spicy bitter finish. Excellent and complex session beer. It just screams, "Well made." Beershine (2678), Hue, Vietnam Feb 13, 2009 Bright red, very nice color. Aroma is chewy and sweet like a Terrapin beer. Imposingly heavy, earthy aroma. The spirit of the beer remains heavy and dull. Difficult to drink, sorry. GranvilleTim (466), Granville, Illinois, USA Feb 10, 2009 Nice hoppy aroma. Pours red in color with a nice off white head that lasted until the last drop. Very refreshing to taste with a dry after taste. Left a nice lace on the glass. Well balanced beer worth buying again, etc. Dezzilu (211), Whitmore Lake, Michigan, USA Feb 9, 2009 Deep red color with a slightly hoppy aroma. The taste was super dry and hoppy leaving a deliciously bitter taste on the mouth. Wickedly smooth and refreshing. My only knock it that it wasn’t overly complex, and that I didn’t notice the ’Rye’. This is definitely a nice session beer. mjg74 (1995), La Mesa, California, USA Feb 7, 2009 Bottled. Dark hazy maroonish color. Huge foamy head. Slightly sweet aroma. Some malts and grain with decent hoppiness. Full bodied ryle flavor with some maltiness. Some dry citric hoppiness finishes it off. Pretty good.
