Commercial Description:
Pours a spectacular crimson red with a creamy tan head. Brewed with four varieties of Belgian caramel malts imparting a sweet richness. Reds Rye is impressively balanced with its hop bitterness and floral bouquet achieved from the dry hop. In the finish, the generous amount of malted rye used accentuates a spicy crisp finish.

Bottle from ucusty I believe. Poured a deep red-amber color with a thick, dense off-white head that slowly diminished to a thick layer and left nice lacing. Aroma of light rye bread, a hint of ice tea, a tinge of caramel, and some earthy, floral hops. A dry, crisp entry greets the tongue as the flavor quickly transitions into an earthy, floral hoppiness with some soft pine dryness and undertones of rye malt with a nice breadiness. Ends with a moderate dryness. Moderate carbonation and solid mouthfeel. I enjoyed this more than I anticipated, the last rye pale ale I tried was not a favorite.

12oz bottle. Pours a hazy reddish amber with a sizeable off white head with great retention and decent lacing. Aromas of hops, pine, and grains. Flavors is hops, pine, and a bit of rye, nice malt undertones. This one is definitely heavier on the hops, and I was expecting a more balanced beer, regardless it was a very drinkable brew.

This red ale poured with a modest beige head and a strong malt aroma. The flavor is very hoppy from start to finish, with an underlying malt taste. The resulting balance makes for a very pleasant drink

pours a reddish amber....thin head. Hoppy scent, some pine ,rye, and something of a grassy note. Mildly thick palate, leaving a grapefruit aftertaste on the roof of my mouth. Better than i expected. Not Bad.

TN tasting at maniac’s. Reddish amber pour. Great floral hop nose. Very much follows in flavor. Well balanced. This is the first rye beer that i’ve thought " Wow, I like this". Medium chewy body. Impressed here.

(10/13/08) Draught at Map Room in Chicago. Hazy red color with medium off-white head. Aroma of hops and some citrus. Flavor has notes of malt, toastiness and caramel and rye hints but mostly bitter hoppiness with some grapefruit. Medium-bodied and a creamy mouthfeel.

Bottle. Poured a dark amber/red color with a two finger off white head. Aroma of spice, caramel and some citrus. Flavor was well balanced, with caramel and rye flavors giving way to a citrusy finish. Medium body with good carbonation and a clean, crisp mouthfeel.

12oz bottle. Pours deep reddish amber with off white head. Good lacing. Aroma is hops, rye, caramel malt, and citrus. Flavor is hops, caramel, malt, rye, dark fruits and light citrus. Mouthfeel is perfect for a rye beer with good carbonation. Finishes nice with good malt profile and balance. A delicious brew.
