COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
As promised Founders Brewing Company has created something unlike the rest. Amongst this summers over crowded race to cloudy wheat beers we have decided to embark down a path all to our own. By using only fresh raspberries Rubaeus translates into intense flavors combined with a no hesitation malt bill. At 7% ABV this is definitely beer. In fermentation we add fresh raspberries at five separate stages throughout the fermentation life cycle to achieve the ultimate balance between tartness and sweetness. This beer is a tribute to Founders way of brewing…. Brewing Beer We Want To Drink

Pours ruby red, with a pungent raspberry smell. Very carbonated and fizzy. Not as dry and flat as many raspberry beers (like wheats) that I’ve tried. Although the wheat in this beer is detectable, its definetely very fruity, which is nice. Very tart. One of the better fruit beers I’ve had.

tap @ brewpub....aroma: pretty much all raspberry and a little sugar.....appearance: transparent ruby red, thin white head....taste: again with the raspberry but not cloyingly so, slightly tart at first but generally sweet, light on the carbonation.

Bottle purchased at Corral Liquors, in Granite City, IL. Pours a rose red with a small, rocky, white head that diminishes. The nose is simply raspberries and straw, with a light to medium-body, considerable carbonation and a tart/sour finish. The flavor is a lively, effervescent raspberry transitioning to a sour, tart finish. This is very easy drinking for 6.9%, and it is my new favorite among the summer seasonals that I’ve sampled this year. I wish that I had bought more than just the one...

This one is great. Bottle from Capone’s. The pour is a marvelous looking hazy magenta/ruby color, with 2 fingers of pink cotton candy colored head. The aroma is fresh raspberries, slight earthy peaty notes, and slight malt. The flavor is fresh raspberries right off the vine coupled with some earthy notes. The whole thing stays on the tart side, with a crisp finish and a solid amount of effervescence. Well done, as usual from these guys.

[served cold] Ruby red pour with zero head. Cirtus & rasberry aroma. Very sweet rasberry flavor... acidic and sour. Carbonation is very smooth when served chilled. I can’t believe its 6.9% ...can’t taste it at all. Very nice in the summer!

Bottle. The pour looks like cranberry juice, very thin pink head. Aroma is raspberry, malt, rye. Flavor is raspberry, rye, some earthiness, but not overpowering; fades to a mellow raspberry wheat. Hard to believe that this one is almost 7%.
