Commercial Description:
As promised Founders Brewing Company has created something unlike the rest. Amongst this summers over crowded race to cloudy wheat beers we have decided to embark down a path all to our own. By using only fresh raspberries Rubaeus translates into intense flavors combined with a no hesitation malt bill. At 7% ABV this is definitely beer. In fermentation we add fresh raspberries at five separate stages throughout the fermentation life cycle to achieve the ultimate balance between tartness and sweetness. This beer is a tribute to Founders way of brewing…. Brewing Beer We Want To Drink

Founders does it again, this offering poured a dark red body with a huge tinted head even with a soft pour. The body is fully carbonated, the aroma is fresh ripe raspberry, green apple, horse blanket, wheat, peppery spice, similar to aroma of a dry fruit wine. The taste starts sour, not as powerful as a lambic but very suttle. It also has a sweet tart chalky mouthfeel. The raspberry taste is very apparent, some sweetness in there for balance. The carbonation is perfect for a refreshing clean feel on the palate. This is a fantastic fruit beer, I couldn’t drink it all night but it would be a perfect after dinner drink.

Pours brilliant red with pink fizzy head. Nose has a light raspberry aroma, similat to a wine cooler. Flavor is much of the same. Lacks true body. There is a mild tart presence. Alcohol is hidden well. Nice beer to help the ladies make to transition to better quality brews.

Pours a HUGE frothy pink head. The color is a dark pink/red. I could smell the aroma as it poured from the bottle. Its strong, but the raspberries are only a light touch. The flavor is raspberries with something in the background? The body is well carbonated and almost soda-ish. Very drinkable and a nice summer beer as designed.

Pours a five-finger+ light pink head that fades quickly leaving no lace. Cloudy red/amber color. Strong rasberry nose. Good carbonation and medium bodied. Starts with a strong sweet raspberry flavor that stays right to the finish, hops and malts are way in the background. $2.99 for a 12oz bottle from Julio’s Liquors Westborough, Ma.

bottle. Light sweet nose. Rosy, strawberry soda color. Light berry flavor. Refreshing probably due to the high carbonation, but thin and simple.

Overcarbed, high dissipating head. Subdued raspberry aroma. Tart, fresh, bright raspberry flavors. Not much else. Prickly mouthfeel. Finishes dry with a seedy bitterness.

12 oz bottle via trade w/ ughsmash. Pours a reddish mahogany with a huge pink fluffy head. Aroma is all raspberry. I really can’t make anything else out because the aroma is so powerful. Flavor is acidic and bursting with tart raspberrys. The background could be more maltier to cut thru some of the fruit in my opinion. Medium bodied but the intense fizziness detracts from the mouthfeel. The first 6 ounces or so of this I really enjoyed, but as I got into the second half of the bottle, it became just too sweet to take. Get a bottle, but share with somebody.
