Not another boring summer wheat beer or lemonade shandy—Rübæus is Founders’ way to celebrate the season’s warmest months. Optimizing the flavor of fresh raspberries added at multiple stages during fermentation, this stunning berry red masterpiece is the perfect balance of sweet and tart. No question about it, with a hefty malt bill and 5.7% ABV, this beer is 100% Founders.

Draft at Hawthrone’s. Pours a hazy maroon with thin white head and minimal lacing. Nose of raspberries, jolly ranchers, cranberry, grenadine. Lightish body, nice sweet flavor without being cloying. Not bad at all.

The smell is nothing but raspberry, that great fruity smell, the look is a merky reddish brown, the taste is somewhat like a wine color from the 80’s. Sweet on the swallow, a little tangy, hint of bitter fruit is left on the palate. You couldn’t go much more on the ABV as it is already a sweet drink, a little more hop would help it, but it’s a good fruit beer which I’m not a big fan of.

This beer has a great sweetness that is expected from its bright redish/pinkish hue. Would be perfect on a summer day and paired with salty foods. I would not be able to drink too many, however, because of its sweetness

Nice and not too sweet. Interesting in features and quite fruity in aroma. Easy to drink.

On tap at the KBS release. Out of all the beers we tried that night, this was my least favorite, but it was still good. Light ruby colored body. Taste of sour cranberries with some malt characters. I may have rated this higher, but living in Wisconsin and having access to New Glarus and there tart beers have really made all others tough to compare. Still pretty good.

Bottle from Mane Liquor. Last night was a hot night and this beer was damn fitting. So clean and sessionable and thirst quenching! Went down quickly and easily. Nice tartiness to it but predominately sweet and easy going. Like ripe raspberries all the way down. Nice quaffer without being a great deal ’beery’ but good for a change

Not much in the nose but has a really nice sweet, tart raspberry flavor with a tingle on the tongue.

Pours raspberry with a pinkish head. Fresh raspberry aroma. Med minus body. Flavor is raspberry with some wheat. Ends sweet/tart with raspberry seed. Very impressive.

Bottle shared by bhensonb. Pours ruby with a modest off-white head and a magnificent raspberry aroma. There is a slightly sweet raspberry flavor with a more bitter backtaste. Fun to drink.
