COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
As promised Founders Brewing Company has created something unlike the rest. Amongst this summers over crowded race to cloudy wheat beers we have decided to embark down a path all to our own. By using only fresh raspberries Rubaeus translates into intense flavors combined with a no hesitation malt bill. At 7% ABV this is definitely beer. In fermentation we add fresh raspberries at five separate stages throughout the fermentation life cycle to achieve the ultimate balance between tartness and sweetness. This beer is a tribute to Founders way of brewing…. Brewing Beer We Want To Drink

A deep red beer with a bubbly dirty beige head, that is quite fast disappearing. The flavor is very powerful - almost cloying - with strong sweet raspberry notes. The flavor is very sweet, but also with some acidity running along the side of the tongue. The acidity leaves a dryness on the tongue. The flavor has strong raspberry notes, combined with lesser notes of almond, leading to a dry slightly bitter end. The mouthfeel is very carbonated, and when You lick your lips afterward it has also left a slight note of lemon on them.

UPDATED: JUN 5, 2006 Bottle... Clear, red ale with a small, creamy, off-white/pink(ish) head. Smells like fresh raspberries. Fruity flavor. Sweet, but also very tart up front... tannin-like bitterness on the backside. Medium-bodied and astringent with lively carbonation. Finishes tangy and dry. Thanks go out to growler for his neverending generosity.

Bottle acquired in trade with OhioDad (thanks!). Opened to a loug Psssst sound and poured all head (and I mean all head). Poured a medium redish color with a reddish-pink colored head. I had to knock down the appearacne score due to the way this one poured. Very nice tart raspberry aroma. Tart raspberry tastes as well. Started off lightly sweet and ended in a puckering tartness. Enjoyable.
