Not another boring summer wheat beer or lemonade shandy—Rübæus is Founders’ way to celebrate the season’s warmest months. Optimizing the flavor of fresh raspberries added at multiple stages during fermentation, this stunning berry red masterpiece is the perfect balance of sweet and tart. No question about it, with a hefty malt bill and 5.7% ABV, this beer is 100% Founders.

UPDATED: JUN 8, 2014 12 oz. bottle poured into a shaker. Appearance is a gorgeous dark ruby. There is a very thin red-tinted white head which dissipates quickly. The aroma is very sweet raspberries with a hint of malt. The taste is very similar to the aroma, sweet raspberries and light malt. It reminds me of sparkling juice. This is a very non-traditional beer and is much sweeter and fruitier than I’m used to. However, I absolutely love it. Founders has found a great balance between raspberries and malt.

(cask) Fruchtiger geruch, ein bisschen nach "sauer". Im Geschmack gar nicht sauer. Keine Bittere. Süßstoffgeschmack...

From tap. Little to know head and pours amber in color. Sweet smell and tart taste of raspberry first. Finishes with a malty flavor. Nice for Summer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Nose is wheat, must, raspberry. Taste is soft raspberry, candy sugar, vanilla leading to a dry finish. Moutfeel is silky. It’s founders who are outrageously good, and it’s the best non-lambic fruit beer I have ever had. It’s still not great.

12oz bottle from Drygate. Dark red, good head. Raspberyy aroma and flavour. Not really like a beer. More a hybride between wine and fruit juice.

Draught at BrewDog, Shepherd’s Bush on 23 July. Poured a clear pink, with no head. Aroma of berries, sugar and grass. Sweet fruit flavours, with some straw and melon. Finish was brown sugar, cooked fruit and raspberry.

Bottle at a friends. Pours hazy reddish pink, nose is toffee, hint of raspberry, taste is very sweet, juicy raspberry, dry, fruity.

355 ml bottle. Pours a dark ruby amber colour with a small head. Aroma of raspberry soda, some nettles and malts. Flavour is very, very sweet with raspberry syrup, pie crust, some herbal notes, caramel, tangy tart raspberry seed notes and residual sugar. Light bodied with a sticky sweet raspberry finish. Feels raw and way too sweet and sugary. Some similarities with artificially sweetened soda lambics.

Tap @ Ørsted Ølbar, Copenhagen 15/7-14. Sweet with a lot of raspberries and light acidic notes, a bit like the Swedish lemonade "Hallonsoda". The finish is dry and sweet with raspberries.

Very sweet and fruity raspberry beer. You could tell it had a little bit more to it than some of fruit beers though. It was good for what I wanted at the time but not something I could drink more than one of.
