COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Not another boring summer wheat beer or lemonade shandy—Rübæus is Founders’ way to celebrate the season’s warmest months. Optimizing the flavor of fresh raspberries added at multiple stages during fermentation, this stunning berry red masterpiece is the perfect balance of sweet and tart. No question about it, with a hefty malt bill and 5.7% ABV, this beer is 100% Founders.

The son of blushing monk. I know it’s only a 6% beer, but I’m really curious how this will change in 6 months, 1 and 2 years. Re-rate coming.

Sampled at Whole Foods, it poured a hazy pink colour. Strong raspberry flavour and aroma, no real malt or hops prescence, more of a non-descript summer spritzer kinda thing. Okay for a fruit beer, I guess. Iit didn’t taste like artificial chemical sweeteners the way so many others do, but it wasn’t anything great in its own right. It’s popular this time of year and highly-rated, but I won’t be buying it again.

Bottle. Clear red with a foamy, pink head that lasts and laces. Aromas of mostly raspberry, light toasted malt and spice. Flavor is sweet raspberry, light spice, toasted malt and herbal notes. Medium bodied, smooth. Mostly sweet with some tart raspberry on the end.

Nice aroma of fresh berries. Strawberry and Raspberries mixed, with a slight barnyard must as well. Reddish hue in color, slightly transparent, with a razor thin white head. Muted sweet berries up front. Just the right amount of sweetness. Tart comes next, with a nice dry bitterness. Slightly watery mouthfeel, with just the right amount of carbonation, Finish is a tart bitterness that is pleasantly refreshing. Nice summer brew.

Bottle. Pale bourgoundy, no head. Raspberries and bit of grainyness in aroma. Raspberries and raspberry jam sweetness in taste. In small quantities this drinkable, would work with some dry cake as a dessert too, but otherwise it isn’t something one would consume on a regular basis. Too sweet as well.

Bottle, Ship in a Bottle, West Kirby. Reddy pink pour with minimal head. Tart, sweet Raspberry laden nose and flavour. Dried out towards the finish. Great lazy summer afternoon drinking. One of the best Raspberry beers I’ve come across, well done. My 2,100th rate.

Pours medium red with a thin white head with just a little lacing. Aroma is of sour and sweet raspberries, wheat bread, and sweet malts. Taste is about the same as the aroma. Has a medium-light body with a semi creamy mouthfeel and a semi dry, sweet and sour, refreshing, medium finish. Overall, a pretty tasty, refreshing wheat ale that is a great summer beer.
