Founders Sumatra brown. Growler thanks to the neiweems once again.
Super!... Pours a darker caramel toffee hue with a thin to medium
frothy head... Aroma is akin to a breakfast stout coffee influence
which cannot be complained about in the slightest. Coffee forward with
a good degree of roast... Flavors are coffee forward to an assertive
extent, roasty while meshing well with a caramel malt and a semi-spicy
rye breadiness. Sweeter sugary tones through the middle while pushing
through towards the finish. A very light bitterness comes into play
very late in the finish. Carbonation is semi-lively and jiving well
with it’s body. Could have been a touch less sweet but it’s a minor
quibble. A little one dimensional really but pretty good stuff overall especially from someone who enjoys their coffee infused brews.

absolutely delicious. a great coffee based beer from founders..surprised?! i hope not. aft. hazy brown body with small beige head..nicely carbonated. massive nose of nuts, fresh brewed coffee, brown sugar and syrup.. delicious, sweetened coffee, with roasted nuts, sugary breads, and slight earthiness. grassy, yet roasted. sweet and dry.

On tap at the Founders Tap Room on 12/23/2010.
This is a phenomenal beer, and truly original. Take the smooth, oily roasted coffee flavors from their Breakfast Stout, and mix them in with the malty sweetness of a Dirty Bastard (minus the 60+ IBU’s), and you have the Sumatra Mt. Brown. Low hop bitterness, thick mouthfeel, TONS of pleasant coffee notes and a delicate sweet finish. I predict that this would be their next big hit if they started bottling it. A must try.

growler courtesy of sprinkle, thanks for this gem! excellent looking pour, hazy with a dense, cascading head. the aroma and flavor are tons of coffe, tastes like a cold extraction. very nice brew, one of the best coffee focused beers ive had, and probably the best brown ale ive had period.

Draft. Poured hazy brown color with an average fizzy light brown head that mostly lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy roasted coffee, nuts with a small alcohol aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy roasteed coffee and sweet flavor with a medium to heavy roasted sweet finish of moderate to long duration. This is a standout beer.
