DLD ’08: Growler thanks to Chris for sharing: Pours black with a tan head. Aroma, vanilla, chocolate and roasted malts. Flavor, vanilla, chocolate, roasted notes, sweet coffee notes on the finish.

May 10, 2008 Tasted 4/27/08. 4oz sampler from the brewpub. Dark brown and opaque hue. Beige head. Touch vanilla in the nose. So smooth. So rich. Medium to full bodied with a great roast. Nice sweet vanilla syrup flavor. Reminds me of A&W Cream Soda. Good effervescence. Tangy palate. Good spiced brew!

Pours a very nice dark brown in color with a nice foamy head. Smell is vanilla hazelnut. Taste is much the same, with some slight chocolate and dark fruit underneath. Good beer. An improvement on a already good porter.

Apr 22, 2008 Tap at brewpub: Deep brown with a nice creamy tan head and left very nice lace upon the glass. The aroma has notes of vanilla and chocolate, walnut, bready malts, prune, and a hint of star anise. The taste starts sweet and malty with the vanilla counterbalanced by the coffee and hop bitterness. Plenty of mocha and a hint of herbal qualities too. The mouth feel is silky smooth and a tad thin, medicinal aftertaste. Not too shabby for what it is, I was worried but the vanilla works here.
