COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Why Double Knot for a name? Well, it’s essentially a double Hop Knot. Now does that mean we just went and doubled the alcohol content? No, but close; Hop Knot is around 6% and Double Knot is around 9.2%. So, did we double the hops? Well, yes! We did! Hop Knot uses around 3.5 lbs per barrel and Double Knot is around 7.5 lbs per barrel (Okay, a little more than double, don’t sue us). That’s really the main difference between the two; slightly higher alcohol content and twice the hops. But what a difference if you’re a true hop-head.

Tasted at brewry 2/5. rich, almost tawny color in snifter. More golden in 10oz old-school beer glass. Pleasant nose (dont recall details). Taste is incredibley balanced between malt, hops and alcohol...nothing sticks out. Palate is smooth, slightly creamy. You just want to drink more and more which pretty much sums up the overall experience. EXCELLENT ALE.

Wow! I had this at AZ’s strong beerfest and again I had a snifter yesterday at the Snottsdale location. This stuff is nice and dangerous! Good thing my professional designated driver was there... Thanks sweetie! Poured a golden copper’ish color with little head. Aroma was out of this world! Smelled almost like fresh cut lawn clippings shoved into my face! The taste was smooth and crisp. This was a double IPA done right. They went overboard without trying to make it obvious they were going for a hit! Nice one.

on tap in tempe 2/8/2010. pours the color of crystal clear freshly pressed apple juice. it is topped by a sizable off white head which fades to a film leaving behind random splotches of foam. intensely hoppy nose... amped up hop knot (imagine that!)... pineapple, pine, grapefruit, onions, flowers, peaches, caramel and a bunch of spice. i want to keep sniffing it! the flavor is more of the same.... my kind of double ipa!... all hop with little malty sweetness to get in the way... pineapple, pine, grapefruit , faint caramel, cinnamon-y earthy british style hops, grass, flowers, skunky onions, apricots and a light bitterness on the finish. the body is medium though thin when compared to its sugary brethren. it is insanely quaffable given the spicy numbing and prickliness on the tongue . wow, we finally have a winner! 9/3/8.5/5/18/4.4

Double Hop is officially my new favoite brew by Four Peaks. Served in a smaller snifter due to the high alcohol content, this beer is bright bronze in color with a medium white head. Taste and aroma of sweet pine, with a more delicate malt finish than you would expect from a double IPA. Hop Knot is a great beer and this is doubly great!

Finally get to try this after missing the last several releases. Eagerly consumed the 9.5% elixir on tap at the Wilson St. location. It was poured into a room temperature aroma killing half pint where it exhibited a nice re-assuring looking semi opaque hop hazed body that is has deep gold hues and supporting a white head of foam that leaves behind some sheet lacing. The aroma offers up a modest degree of resiny pine hops and a mild malt sweetened citrus grapefruit like note that seems to be sandwiched between the mild maltiness and pine hops. The taste is thick and robust and inviting sticky resiny pine sap that gets an initial wedge of citrus hops squeezed in there. The robust resiny hops fade into malt sweetened citrus hop flavor and a touch of caramel malts. It is interesting how the thick sticky resiny hops fade linearly into a mild bitterness into the finish. Solid IIPA with sink your teeth into it chewy big body resiny pine hop goodness. The only knock is that bit of caramel malts I was getting that gets in the way of the great hoppiness a bit.

Man first time vistied this place with out wife. Little stange sitting at the bar. Had a good citrus nose for aroma. Polished copper body with decent head. Flavorfull double ipa with good citrus flavor and malt I thought was little thin and the good cool and crisp thin g for the palte was good for me. Good brew.

On tap at the Tempe location. Pours a bright copper color with a trim off-white head. Loaded with citrus and hops in the aroma. Tastes of further hops, flour, malt, and apricot on the mid palate. Finishes like cotton, but otherwise a really great DIPA.

On tap at the Tempe brewery. First off, Hop Knot is a great IPA ... super flowery, light, sharp, and flavorful. Double Knot is up the same alley. Same hop bill, which is perfect (Simcoe in there?) ... great beer.

On tap at the brewery and again at the AZ strong beer fest. Deep gold color. Nice roasty caramel malt flavor with a ton of citrus and pine hops. Really good stuff!
