COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our Hop Knot IPA is made only from American malt and lots of American hops, which produce a big, broad-shouldered, hoppy beer backed up by a character as warm as, well, Mom and apple pie… Hop Knot IPA get its peculiar name from the weaving of four different hops added at four separate times during the brewing process. Including our cavernous hop-back, which gets so stuffed with whole leaf hops that we feel genuine guilt for its excess. Hop Knot is an ale that is to be enjoyed with friends, spicy food or any time you need a good hop fix without the harsh bitterness. We hope you enjoy this pioneering beer made in the bold spirit of Americans everywhere.

draft at the brewpub. Best of the lot, but that’s not saying much. Mildly Hoppy. Nice, but nothing special.

Pint at 1702 with FlacoAlto. Very fruity and hoppy on the nose. Malt in there too. Flavors were more citrus hops with grapefruit and tangerine and a rather floral finish. Pretty good.

Handbottle from FlacoAlto. Pours a crystal clear, medium golden-amber color. A small, foamy white head settles to a patchy, bubbly layer, scattered micro-spots of lace marking the glass. The aroma shows bright, hoppy citrus notes of grapefruit, orange, and lemon over a light bed of toasty bread notes and delicate toffee. The flavor is the mirror image of the nose, a lightly sweet, toasty malt backdrop with a fresh blend of citrusy hops. Excellent drinkability and supreme balance without any annoying astringency. Medium-light bodied and moderately carbonated, this one goes down really easy. There aren’t many bells and whistles, but sometimes well-executed simplicity is best. Great session IPA.

22oz hand bottle acquired in trade with FlacoAlto (thanks!). Poured a medium and clear golden color with an averaged sized head. Aromas of citrus and pine. Tastes of citrus, pine, lightly floral, and touch of caramel.

UPDATED: JUL 6, 2012 Pours copper from the tap at Four Peaks with a white head of foam. I love this beer fresh. Wonderful citrus aromatics and crisp on the palate. A really solid IPA.

On tap at Scottsdale location. Cask version. Pours a medium amber with off-white head and great lacing. Nose is caramel malt, grapefruit and pine. Taste is pretty much the same as the aroma. Medium, creamy mouth feel. Really good.

On cask @ Pizza Port real ale festival. For some reason the aroma of this beer hit me the wrong way and smelled like mildew or dirty laundry or possibly a thrift store on a hot summers day. The appearance however was strong with a pure ale appearance and fine topping of head. The flavor was a reminder of the nose but still managed to score some points with me.

Golden yellow...lovely hop aroma and lasting head. Moderately hoppy flavor, with notes of burnt caramel, peach seed, slight carob and pepper.

UPDATED: DEC 14, 2008 Draft. Pours a pale yellow with a frothy white head. Aroma of hops, and a little malt. Hop flavor comes through nicely in this one, and it’s a good refreshing sipper, but pales in comparison with some of the hop monsters out there nowdays. Still, I enjoyed this one. Re Rate from Bottle: Fresh bottle picked up from brewery. Pours a transparent yellow with a nice soapy white head. Aroma of fresh hops, malt, citrus,. Flavor is fresh hops, citrus, with a nice bitter yet balanced finish. Awesome IPA, I hope they start selling bottles into their distribution network at some point because this is a winner.

Draft, sampled many a time, many a year at the Four Peaks Brew Pub. I used to think it was an excellent IPA, now I find it to be barely an above average IPA. Easily their best and the best brew out of the Phoenix/Tempe area, but the level of a very good IPA has been raised. Yes, it could be hoppier, has a mellow fruity flavor and a mild kick.
