COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our Hop Knot IPA is made only from American malt and lots of American hops, which produce a big, broad-shouldered, hoppy beer backed up by a character as warm as, well, Mom and apple pie… Hop Knot IPA get its peculiar name from the weaving of four different hops added at four separate times during the brewing process. Including our cavernous hop-back, which gets so stuffed with whole leaf hops that we feel genuine guilt for its excess. Hop Knot is an ale that is to be enjoyed with friends, spicy food or any time you need a good hop fix without the harsh bitterness. We hope you enjoy this pioneering beer made in the bold spirit of Americans everywhere.

Received this one as an extra, I wish I took better notes so that I could thank whoever it was, but you’re out there and Cheers to trading anyway! Pours a very nice golden hue with a nice bubbly head that dissipates into a reasonably thick crown. Carbonation is very active in my Samuel Adams sensory glass. Smell is actually very close to DIPA territory, pretty potent stuff. Hop sweetness is prevalent, mostly of the citrus and pine resin variety. Taste, while more potent than most IPAs is still weak for my DIPA battered palate, but what is there is quite tasty and even refreshing for IPA standards. For specifics, see the smell, but this is sweeter and more drinkable than a lot of other IPAs that I find too puckeringly bitter. Mouth is thin to medium in body and reasonably heavy on the carbonation. Works well here. A very drinkable IPA and I’m pretty sad that I will probably not have the opportunity to try this one again, but glad I had this one chance. Very good stuff.

12floz/355ml can into a shaker glass. Served cold. Aroma: Moderately piney hop profile with a little bit of grapefruit/citrus. Appearance: Barely hazy, transparent, orange-amber body with a pretty rocky white head. Nice lacing. Taste: Pine-y hops, but not harsh. Pretty straightforward flavors. Palate: Pretty light bodied. Moderately bitter finish. Overall: A nice IPA; approachable, gentle, but has a nice hop bite.

Serving: from tap at Four Peaks Brewing Company. Aroma: moderate pine hop aroma. Appearance: average-sized, frothy, off-white, initial head with fair lacing and fully diminishing longevity. Clear, dark-yellow body. Taste: moderately bitter initial flavor and moderately sour, citrus finish with average duration. Palate: medium body with dry texture and soft carbonation. Overall: excellent. Great aroma, and well balanced taste--not overly bitter.

12/1/05 Draft. golden with small white head. Piney citrusy aroma. fairly well balanced malt backbone and piney hop bitterness. Easy to drink. Very good with food. By far there best beer.

Pours a golden color with medium white head. Aromas of mild pine and some mild resin. Flavors of some mild bitter hops that are well balanced with the malt. This is one of my favorite local IPAs and one I find myself going to when there are not very many option.

Orange nose. This one goes both ways from the start, moving from a nice malt directly to both a light bitterness and orange overtones. I’d say its bipolar, but going both ways makes it sound more interesting.

Some retention and great lacing. A rather weak aroma. Smells of citrus hops and a slight sent of sweet malt. Tastes of stale hops and malt. Not the most enjoyable IPA. Hopefully it's just a bad batch. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
